Read my post above. Have you had a confused.com quote. Try admiral as they were great for me last year and this year. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0

Doesn't sound too bad.
It'll be better when he has his own NCD, and the when the car is over three years old. If it's fully comp, put in the biggest excess it will allow, and see what the premium is like. Post ofice are worth atry at the moment as well.0 -
Gaz Jones, they seem to have put the premiums upppp since you were 17, tried Confused.co., with good old Quinn showing 1st yet again with 2547, next one Admiral @3761 and then Elephant. Did Post Office, the thing would not do give the amounts at end, so they are e/mailing. Yes Mikey, it is still horrendous, but £2600 does not seem off the mark, all the quotes i have received are way above £3000, apart from Quinn D and of course churchill who are matching0

But don't come back crying when your lad writes his pride and joy off and then can't afford the excess/to buy another car.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

£2600 seems about right for the situation. Insurance companies are variations on the bookies- it is gambling on things happening. Just like the bookies don't offer big odds on Chelsea to win at home because they know it often happens and you have to pay a lot to get a big payout, the insurance boys know that young guys like to have accidents and give them a big payout so you have to pay big!0

Mikey72 Just got the Post office e/m £5144, needless to say, you know what they can do with that............
iamana !as, why are you still here, you have nothing worthwhile to say and for your information, some 17 year old boys are indeed mature and sensible and aware of the hazards of motoring. Don't tarnish everyone under the same brush.. I've just noticed that you have a post count of over 1000 since July 2009, i suggest you get a life away from the internet!0 -

Yeah, you're right. 17 year old boys are all about being sensible. I don't know how they managed to get such a bad rap on the statistics when they're all about driving slowly and taking notice of what's going on around them.pconstable wrote: »I've just noticed that you have a post count of over 1000 since July 2009, i suggest you get a life away from the internet!

Ok hold your horses on this.
Do not get quotes which are fronted, seriously not worth it.
Do however, add female named drivers to the policy with your son as the main driver.
Do choose carefully what his "occupation" is, don't be dishonest but be creative.
Do look at the possibility of additional driving qualifications, a Pass Plus certificate would cost around £100 (done through ADI instructor) but could even half the cost of insurance at the rates you are being quoted.
Yes he is 17, male and driving a hogh risk car (forget insurance groupings for young drivers, if you think it is a sensible car to go for so do 90% of all other fathers of 17 yr old lads).
Change the car and get a quote on something like a volvo s40, or a diesel vectra, basically think outside the box.
Forget raising the xs to an obscene amount, on top of any policy xs your son also carries the obligatory £250 young driver xs already.0
