Hi all,
I've been lurking to see how everyone has got on. For those not aware i'm not doing a GC but a very painful withdrawal from a financially crippling shopping addiction.
Well i'm proud to report that I have barely been shopping this month - I've been to tesco's once and spent £28 and the rest has been from the storecupboard. I think it was mid Jan it all kicked off so three weeks cold turkey and suddenly I am getting a SMUG satisfaction not spending money.
I am having lots of NSD's and NCD's too (no car days!)
I am also pleased to report we are NOT in our OD yet - I know it's early days but I am soooo pleased:D
Thankyou all and THANKYOU MRSMCAWBER for the fabulous soft flour tortilla recipe in the cookery collection. I won't buy them again!:j
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -
That's the one! If I had room in the freezer would have bought more
I bought 3 packs of meat for £10 offer in Mr M at the weekend....bit doubtful if it is good value but wanted chicken breasts and lamb anyway so added beef.
Out of those I got 4 portions of chicken curry, 3 portions of beef in red wine and 2 of Irish-ish stew so not bad for a tenner with some veggies etc added. Some eaten and rest.....yes...in the freezer (Note to self - don't buy any more meat to batch cook for at least 2 weeks)
Also trying not to bake until all the biscuits and cakes in the house used up.........
We find the Mr M meat 3 for £10 quite good quality , much better than Mr A's, the mince is a HUGE pack and very lean. I must admit that I much prefer to buy free range / organic but at the moment the budget doesnt allow too much of that so Mr M's it is ! Sounds like you got a great lot of meals out of your 3 packs, well done !
miecherox - well done ! Great news !
Need to make sure Ive got all my receipts together so will hopefully update my spends latertoday .0 -
Hello peeps:wave:
Well im up to £98.16 already this month
Seems like a hell of a lot already but cupboards & freezer are crammed full of whoopsies
Hopefully i will only be buying milk, veg and essentials for rest of the month.
Farmfoods have Hovis medium or thick sliced loaves 2 for £1.50, and 2 litre bottles of milk 2 for £1.50 at the moment.
Best of luck everyone, have a good day xSealed Pot Challenge no. 0920 -
We bought bread, milk and a packet of ham on Sunday which will keep us going almost until the end of the week - spending €9. But I will probably need more ham tomorrow.
Unfortunately, the soup we'd brought from the firdge was gone off. So I ended up going in to M&S to get something for lunch - and spent €12. Mostly on lunchy and treat things for me. But I DID get 2 packs of Prawn crackers for at home on special offer...but that brought my spending up much more than I'd hoped.
We're mostly eating from the freezer this week, so I may need to get some salads for tonight (with quiche), but otherwise we are good until Saturday! Pasta bake last night, and a "hash" on Sunday night of leftover mash, some bacon pieces, old mushrooms and spring onions, couple of slices of old pepper, and a handful of frozen peas and grated cheese. Surprisingly tasty!!GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897
GC 2011:Overall Target: €6,000/ €5,442 by October

Spent £1.95 on milk on Sunday - yesterday was a NSD.
went for a coffee with a friend and she kindly offered to pay. It was great to catch up as i hadn't seen her for ages.
will have to pop into Mr S later as do need bread and some yoghurts for DS lunch box.
yesterday i cooked a chicken for dinner. whilst i was out having coffee hubby stripped it for me, he even kept the carcass so i could make soup(he is learning quick!)

Well done, miecherox :T
Coxy - I used to have a separate budget for birthdays etc which also included our regular family get-togethers for cards and a take-out; sadly this doesn't happen now as DD and family moved to Oz; DS and I just enjoy a cuppa and a good natter
Well done to all who are winning their challenge, commiserations to those who aren't; I've spent a lot of my annual budget already but I'm pleased with it as I've stocked up on some good offers and have loads in the freezer/cupboards. :j
PennyGrabber - Butterscotch Squares are now in the recipe index :T
and (very belated - sorry!) Congrats to Ragz :j... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I've got a sainsbug shop coming later and that will only leave me £50 to last till 24th. However I think I'm going to be able to do it, as the freezer is full so it's mainly just fresh stuff we'll need.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

I feel like I'm doing quite well so far this month :j:j:j
Although my £430 includes nappies (of which I haven't needed to buy in Feb, bought a couple of large boxes when the baby event was on at Mr A), plus this week we're not at home for 2 nights and will be eating out (one's a wedding and the other a bday treat). Still though I've spent loads less than I would have thought. Just goes to show, you never know eh?:DThe 2012 mantra - "A place for everything, and everything in it's place"0 -
Spent £3.05 today on bread, celery, bananas and a cabbage.
So I have £207.42 and 19 days left.
19 x £7.50 a day = £142.50 leaving about £64.92 for my Tesco delivery this weekend (delivery charge doesn't come out of food budget).
Trouble is the folks are coming tomorrow night and will need a supper and other bits so the next couple of days will probably be more than £7.50! Anyway I'll give it a go!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0
