  • Can you please add me £375 for February.

I keep trying and failing but I need to pull my finger out now as my DH could be made redundant soon which is a very scary thought.

I have just sat and made a list of all the things we have in the cupboards and fridge/freezer and have made a meal plan for the rest of the month based on what we have in so we should only need the odd bit here and there and F&V and milk.

Thank you for the shiny new thread, and going to go back and read from page one.

    Hi peeps :)

i`ve not caught up with the thread yet but i shall sit down later when i`ve more time to catch up.

NSD for me today, the shopping yesterday came to £19.59 and DH managed to stick to the list that i wrote for him, i was at work so it was his turn to do the supermarket run.

Hopefully i shall manage this month without going over budget. We still have lots in the freezer and i think that this is the most organised that i`ve been for a couple of months - long may it continue.

Hope that everyone is doing well :D

  • Not really happy with myself today as I've gone over my budget of £50 a week by spending £60.77! I did spend £27.07 on things that weren't on my list so really annoyed with myself. That said, I did get DH some choccies for Valentines day, bacon was on offer so I've got some for the freezer and bacon butties on Sunday. We didn't really need tissues as I could have carried on using loo roll! I aslo bought hand sanitizer as I'm sneezing all the time. Got some easter eggs for the easter trail. I know its along way a way but once the camp opens i very rarely get time to browse through the shops so thought it was easier to get them now. I'm also having an Ann Summers party during the week so got some nibbles for that.

At the end of the day though I feel I've made a change - as I've come home and immediately checked the receipt and looked at the changes I could make. I was also using Mr Ts all the time so I could get my points - I've stopped by going to Mr Ms (much closer to home) but used my Mr Ts credit card so I can still pick some points up but came home and immediately transferred money from my current account to the credit card account so my card will still be clear

  • nipped out for loaf of bread and spent £27.55 at mr t!

good thing is that i was child free so was able to browse and look and compare prices again, decided not to buy 'expensive' premade coldslaw, and ended up buying a cabbage to make the slaw and have veg over to go with a dinner.
ended up buying some liquid soap/body wash that i used to buy prechallenge and have been craving... but have put them safely in the cupboard to come out when i really need them!
bought offer of birds eye fish fingers. 2 x 10 pk for £2, and treat for dd of munch bunch bogoff yougurts - £1.50 for 8. I have got into the habit of buying the value fromage frais so they are more money... should have not bought them really.

One whoopsie bought today, smoked haddock with 1/3rd off, so pleased with that.

i have totalled up and spent half of my budget now, so my £5 a day spend target is now £4.50 a day target so i don't go over, plus need a good dose of nsd/lsd's...

I went through and listed the contents of one freezer today, got to do the other too later.

    good luck all

Thanks very much rosie. Have just moved into new house and so money is really tight at the moment. You guys have all been v inspiring so far and so thought would jump on the band wagon. I'm finding that instead of taking easy option and just dropping by the shops when I finish work I'm actually trying of things to cook using everything at home:) Its new at the moment so not finding it too much of a chore...long may it continue. Will keep updating on this thread and hopefully will come under budget by the end of Feb:T

  • I ended up spending £13.58 today instead of about £4, but catfood and cereal bars were on special! So now I have enough to last me til at least the end of the month. It does make working out the budget confusing, though...

  • Just been into a giant Wilkos store and spent £4.27 on soda crystals, stardrops etc, super OS I'll add it to my grocery total now. Felt quite virtuous as only bought what was on my list :)

Hi everyone - its damage limitation time now due to the fact I went to Costco (fatal) and stocked up on loads of offers. I've planned out our meals till our month ends on the 19th and judging by my cupboards I will be able to cut back on the March budget. Should just need milk to keep us going so I'm hoping to scrape in under the wire! :)

    Have a great day everyone!
