I doubt she'll be able to slide anything between the frame and the door, you would have to take off the wooden trim first.

Ok boys (im assuming you are all boys?!) I put the handle back on (can I add im incredibly proud at this minute that I did it!) didnt tighten it right in so when I pull it down I can see the wee silver pole turning but its not doing anything! Grrrrrr!!
Will I try the coke bottle? Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........

Yes we do, if only for Linz's description of the other tools she might need. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I can't see what, but it has to be the latch
You could do with a big chunky screwdriver that you can force into the latch.
Another idea can you take the handle off one of the other doors, one that you don't use much. If you can get a handle off make sure you don't close the door untill you've put the handle back.
Try to pull the pole out from the other door, now see if we can have any luck using that on the broken door.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Sailor sam i'm really sorry but you are barking up the wrong tree, there is nothing wrong with the handle or the spindle. it is the latch itself.
you are just going to confuse the situation and give the poor op more work to do with no result.0 -

Oh Oh! Silly me took the handle off the airing cupboard.....all good. Except there isnt one on the other side :rotfl: (remind me why Im laughing?!) obviously unless someone got in there they wouldnt need to open it from the other side!
Back to the coke bottle (which Im still cutting!) I actually reckon some of my neigbours could get in there in tw secondsifyou know what I mean?!
Ok so the coke bottle........I watched the video. I need to kinda stick it in and flick to make the wee bit go in?Its hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........

The wellies are in the bedroom, so until the door is open it's a slipper job.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
