Hello all - glad you had a good weekend ttc39 and hope the same for everyone else.

I have a dr appointment tomorrow, although I'm not sure if it's a waste of time or not. I made it because I'm not sure if I'm ovulating since my loss (3 months ago) and have a feeling that there's a blood test they can do to check (on day 21 I think). I also want to know if all the infections (I seem to have had plenty) I've had since delivery have cleared up - as there were no clear symptoms other than test results I have no way of knowing myself. My cycles and periods have also been odd - i.e. very different to how they used to be - and I'm not sure if that's an indication that there's something wrong, or if my system is still not working as it did, or if it's a sign that my reproductive system has completely packed up on me :(

I'm sure there are other things I want to ask in terms of preparation for TTC after late loss, but I'm not sure what! If anyone else has any ideas I'd appreciate it as it's taken two weeks to get this appointment and don't want to waste it :)

Glad you had a good scan, Sam.

Good to hear your OH is recovering too PLMBL. Hope you are getting your feet up tonight for a bit of well deserved rest.

TTC sounds like you had a great weekend too. Nice to get some relaxing family time.

I'm just about to finish chapters 6 out of 8. My deadline was supposed to be tomorrow, but I've got a week's extension. Can't believe I'm going to have to work the next 7 days straight. Been working 18 days with only two half days off, so getting seriously knackered now.

I've been getting AF type cramps, I really hope it doesn't come a week early! PLMBL, still no AF for you?

Other than that, the only scandal is that we have new neighbours next door. Curtains have been twitching in overdrive here! We met them today and they seem really nice.

    Hugs to all xx

Oops cross posted with you Betty. I hope you get a plan in place tomorrow at the Drs. I can only imagine that any extra information will be reassuring when TTCing again. Huge fingers crossed you'll get the tests and everything will be positive. My periods have changed so much even since my very early loss. (Sorry if TMI) cramps and bleeding are so intense but only last a day or two. I've read online that changes are common, but good not to rely on Dr Google like me :o:o:o

Betty, I saw the dr too after my mc as I had a cycle where I didn't ovulate so I completely freaked out as although id always had irregular cycles I would always ovulate even if it took ages, and then get AF 2 weeks after that.

I got the cd3 tests done which check for quite a few things and then the cd21/7dpo test. I tracked ov and so for that cycle I think I got the cd21 test done around cd42 or something as I took ages to ovulate. So make sure you get it at the right time. If I'd gone cd21 it would have said I was not ovulating. I was, just not on cd14!

The tests came back normal and I felt a lot better after that. I then started to convinced myself something was wrong with Dh! Then just as I started to read up on that, I got pg!

It's normal for your cycles to be messed up for a while after mc. Apart from the one where I didn't ovulate & the super long one I got the test done on though, mine actually got a bit more 'normal'.
  • Betty, it doesn't sound like a waste of time to me. You have lots of valid things to check/discuss. Have you had any follow up from the hospital in terms of tests?

Lara, you sound exhausted! Hope you get some R&R too.

Thanks for sharing your experience re cycles post mc Claire. Hope your pregnancy is going well now.

Still waiting for AF. Week 7 now. I normally have 28 day cycles so this one is a tad long!!

Hi Betty - good luck for your Drs appt. I think you are doing a very positive thing. After my mc my cycles never went back to how they were, I too was convinced I wasn't ovulating. Started using OPKs - only to find my ovulation had changed to CD21ish! Don't give up on using Opks - keep on going through your cycle with them, I never did see a smiley face! I used to use my expensive ones up and then be on the cheapy ones. Can completely understand your age fears - that was my huge motivation too, sounds like you've been pretty fertile though so I would hope you have no issues :) Report back!
  • With regard to cycles changing, I've found that whenever I've had enough cycles between pregnancies to be able to tell, they've always been changed after every pregnancy regardless of length but it is of course still sensible to get checked out if you are concerned especially if you are wanting to TTC.
