I love that in all the Police Stop Kill programmes the police are allowed to drive without seatbelts......as they have special training. Exactly what special training stops you going through a windscreen?'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

Multidrop delivery drivers are also allowed to drive without seatbelts, as are taxi drivers.0 -

i wasnt given any special training - it simply is to make it easier to quickly enter and exit the car - also many times baton got entangled as I got out the car so health and safety issue aswell. Police have an exemption from wearing seatbelts.0 -
Well it makes sense for police. Take the typical situation on those OMG Police Camera shows, they're chasing after a clapped out Escort RS Turbo full of theiving chavs... "decamp, decamp", officer gets out, removes seatbelt but this time it doesn't roll in all the way and the officer has to push it out the way, then gets something caught on it and has to sort that out, meanwhile the chavs are getting further and further away and could make the difference between catching them or losing track.
You can imagine the Daily Mail headline, "Burglars get away while police fiddle with seatbelt", "health and safety gone mad blah blah blah, nanny state, blah blah blah, immigrants to blame"0 -
Police? A law unto themselves!!0

The exemption for taxi drivers and Police is partly to remove the chance that a passenger/prisoner in the back will try to strangle them with the seatbelt.Dogs have owners...my cat has slaves...0 -
I think the big issue here is are they suggesting that people with only one arm shouldn't be allowed to drive as they are not in control? Sound like discrimination to me!
(I appreciate this if you only had one arm you would need an automatic!)I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling0
