Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing ok.I've had a busy day, went for my haircut in town ,went to the bank where they have a new machine in which takes coins.Yesterday I set myself a challenge to see if I could find enough change knocking round the house to pay for the wool I wanted off Ebay.I emptied the pot in the bedroom where we put spare change at the end of the day,the pot near the TD for when I'm washing and find them, and various nooks and crannies.I did a rough count and knew I had enough for the wool, but stopped then, and let the machine count it today-£72 paid into my account,so time very well spent :j
I ordered my wool,so that should arrive soon, and treated myself to a top in Primark for £8.Then I went to the market for a few bits, and got a turkey from my usual stall. That was £8 too,but weighed it on the bathroom scales when I got home- 17lbs!Excellent value for money,so really pleased,we all like turkey and it'll do loads of meals for us.No wonder I struggled getting on and off the bus with it.I got a few odd looks as its legs were sticking out at the top,but what the heck, moneysaving is moneysaving!
Pork in cider for tea with stir fried cabbage and leek.DHs ribs seem to be easing a bit,and his cough is finally going so that makes it easier on the ribs. They got very wet working outside yesterday,he said his knee felt chapped but when he got changed found that because his workpants ,which are quite thick material, had been wet,its actually rubbed the skin off his kneecap
Better get moving, they'll prob be home soon,as its pouring down now and they'll have had enough.
Hugs to anyone suffering.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Afternoon all
Flutterbye, I once worked for a housing association during a very hot summer in an office with no windows, I was given a fan & told to keep it on the floor & not put it on my desk in case someone threw it at me.
Hubby went for an interview today, there were 14 people interviewed, it's now down to him & one other, he'll be told tomorrow.
Todays joy at work today was 1357 pieces of paper to be cut into 4 & then paperclipped together is a specific order, only the teacher didn't manage to line the boxes on the paper up correctly, so they all have to be cut by hand with scissors, can't use the guillotine!
Egg on toast for tea, hubby's too stressed to eat a proper meal.
Have a good evening everyone.
Hugs Hester

Hi All,
I seem to be addicted to the OS lifestyle and always read the daily thread so though I would say hello.
Had a busy day today my DB is visiting from Australia and he loves cooking so he has kinda taken over my kitchen but I don't mind really. It's lovely to see him and he made a scrummy curry for tea. I did manage to fit in some scones later this afternoon.
I also did my weekly visit to the charity shops this morning and got four lovely ice cream sundae dishes for £2. I am definitely going to try Nigella's hot fudge chocolate sauce over some ice cream so I can use my new dishes lol.
Well off to the accountants with DH to sign his accounts so they can be submitted before the end of January.
Have a nice evening everybody.:)Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

:rotfl:it's not that bad where I work!!
I've been busy since I got home at half4 - made bit pot of leek&potato soup with YS leeks I got in Tesco few days ago for 50p, I will freeze this to eat next week, I've peeled the pots for tomorrow night, and prepped the cauli, I've made the tomotoey sauce, and a salad for lunch tomorrow!
I've just got to decide what to have for tea now! I might make a pizza, base and topping is in freezer already so it's just a defrost, assemble and cook jobby, so easy enough
Still need to tidy, hoover, wash dishes (I made use DW tonight) and put laundry away.
Then I will crash infront on tv

Evening all.
As predicted, I ran out of time yesterday, so didn't get to post. I seem to be running 'orribly late today. as well, for some reason. Has someone been pinching hours out of the day while I wasn't watching?:D
Anyway, Mr LW's on late shift today, but he's phoned to say he's on his way home. It's the 2nd half of yesterday's Shepherd Spy for dins, so just needs nuking, nice and easy.
I see we have some new posters - welcome, one and all. Sandy I know from the Disability & Dosh board - nice to see you, mate.;)
Right, I'd better get off my far-too-substantial behind and go and rattle a few plates in the kitchen. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Evening. Better day at work for me today, didn't have to rush off to a poorly DD like yesterday, so that was a relief!
Utility bill came today (online) and am £62 in credit, so am really chuffed. DD is going down. Think the combination of having cavity wall insulation done plus not turning the heating on til December helped!
Did a massive quorn spag bol for tea, as needed something that kids could reheat tomorrow. DD has a school disco, so their poor Grandad is coming over and rather than take them back to his which is what he normally does, he is staying here til 7pm so she can go to the disco (because her Dad is too much of a selfish pig to taker her, but thats a whole other story!). Anyway, didn't want him to have to try and cook anything, so they have a big tub that can go in the microwave, and I've also got a big tub to take to work! Its my 11 hour tomorrow so will need lots of food.
MSD - hope you're ok and hope to see you back soon.
Pipkin - hope hospital went ok.
Haribo and Aussie - glad you're having a fab time!0 -
Welcome to Sandy and Julie :j
Aussie - sounds like you are having a fab time
Hester - I am crossing everything for your H. I really hope he's successful.
bargainbird - excited by your first home delivery. Methinks you need to get out more
RachelW - hope your worries are sorted soon xx
Its vegetable chilli so me and H will be having that for tea once DD is in bed. It's too stressful trying to eat whilst she's clambering all over for attention/trying to eat the food off your plate.
Went to a friends late this afternoon and sat and relaxed whilst DD was asleep so have been thoroughly lazy this afternoonShall make up for it tomorrow when mindee comes for the day

Bitsy - I think you might be right
, 3 months housebound doesn't help, nearest town/shops 9miles away. DD1 kept giving me very odd looks when i kept saying "how impressive is that"
Another thing thats quite worrying, is that i ordered Starch spray and can't wait to use it on my bedding
Kids in bed FR is trashed and d'ya know what i CBA it can stay like it, whats the point it will be like it again at 7.15am tomorrow.
Rosy-red - welldone on your finds, the perks of housewifery
Hope you all have nice evening xYou know your getting old when yougo to the pub sit outsideand admire the hanging basket

Well tell tonight was chicken cooked in SC (never knew it was possible) with mash and fresh veg not the packet steam stuff I bought pre OS and have stripped the rest for curry tomorrow - now I have heard talk on here of boiling carcass for soup - please could you tell me how you do this and for how long does it need stoock or water etc.
thanks Jayne0 -
Hi Jaynnie.Submerge your Carcass in as large a pan of water as you have and bring it to the boil with, leek, carrot & celery and you have a lovely stock. Add a bouquet garni and a few peppercorns if you have them. NO salt, no onion (unless you're using/freezing the stock immediately) as it can "turn" it, and no swede turnip etc for the same reason.Boil for about twenty mins, the simmer for a couple of hours. It will reduce in volume, and when you strain it and leave it to cool you will get a good "jellified" chicken stock. I cannot do this as no matter what fan I put on, what door I close, boiling chicken ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS sets off my smoke detector, which is hard wired, so can't be put off.
