Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Weday 27th January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning folks.
Quiet morning after some rain last night. Work today and then 3 days off. No plans, so we shall see what comes our way.
Did not do pizza last night, but did have a nice piece of gammon and bottle of JP Chennet. Watched football, so not too bad an evening.
The job can be quite horrible at times, it's far more than speeding tickets and pointy hats. I have a good ability to push the emotions aside and get on with it. It's not everyone's cup of tea...
Have a good day

Morning all.
Sorry not actually posted for a few days.
Have been busy though! The usual stuff, baby, kids, housework!
Baby woke at 5am. Bright eyed & bushy tailed...
I haven't looked at todays Flylady list but whatever that is, need to get that done. Need to change my bedding. TOTM. Quite glad the baby woke early really.
DH is off to Greece today on business. It's hard him working away so often but we have to be grateful that he has a job. One good thing with him home till he flies off, he can take DD to choir at 8am!
I need to go to the library to get some more recycling bags. They don't give me enough, by at least 3 rolls.
Need to do some baking as the children don't have any cakes left. Should have done yesterday but ran out of time.
Baby had his 7-9 month check yesterday. He is doing fabulously! His head is still on the 97 centile. I am still eternally grateful for c-sections!:rotfl:
Right suppose I ought to stop boring you all with my witterings!
Hope you are all well.
(((hugs))) for those in need.

Morning all
It certainly wouldn't be my cup of tea N9eav, all credit to you.
Glad to hear baby is doing well Lisa.
Hugs to MSD, PP & anyone else in need.
Went to a 'Jamie at home' party last night, so that's the social highlight over for me for this year, what an exciting life I lead. I had a lovely cuddle with the hostess's 14 stone Rotty, he's so funny, he 'talks' all the time, sounds like he's growling, but his back end is wagging, so it's he way of showing he's happy.
Off to work soon, I was very bad yesterday, I gave the staff a deadline for the next bulk print they need doing, me! How dare I! The cheek of it! as if I know anything about timescales, it's not often I get to upset so many people in one go, lol.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning.
Hester :rotfl: Good for you!
N9eav Not an easy job at times I'm sure although hopefully you have the odd rewarding moment & get to help someone change their lives. Gammon & wine sounds good.
DivaThinking about you hon.
LowseyStill thinking about you & DH.
Well I spent last night crocheting until my hand was sore and then sat watching an argument unfold in The Arms  There are some 'strong' characters on there for sure & I'm certain that I don't want to post there now! Seems that a few are spoiling it for many as happens in life sadly. I was thinking about posting on some different boards but think I'll stick here thanks
Plans for today are to do the Flylady list this morning and go and help my Mum do some more batch cooking this afternoon as she's going into hospital tomorrow for her gall bladder removing. Just in case the pancreatitis flares up, and she's in for longer than expected, we're getting otganised for Dad. If she's not in for long at least there'll be plenty of meals in the freezer for them both while she's recovering :T
Sky are coming to fix the dish later on too. I shall quite miss the peace & quiet in the living room although I have missed listening to local weather forecasts :rotfl:
Breakfast is beans on crumpets, lunch is mixed veg & lentil soup with some hm soda bread and tea is fish goujons, potatoes, peas & parsley sauce.
Have a good day all0 -
Good Morning
Hope you are doing OK MSD
N9eav - I have looked into being a "special" - was put off by the bit which says you have to be physically fit!
Glad the checkup went well Mrs MH
Have woken with a slight headache today, think its because of a work problem that I went to sleep on - have to make a potentially horribe phone call this morning.
Have anice lunch to look forward to though - meeting a friend I havn't seen for ages at a local toby carvery. It really is well cooked food & is very reasonable. I won't want dinner tonight so am doing everyone else spag bol - not my favourite and is nice n easy to do.
Will try and fit some housework and ironing in today but apart from some stardops and vinegar - not too much os - must try harder :rotfl:
Off now to wake up stroppy teenager.x
Oh & nearly forgot - am enjoying your blog Thriftlady.0 -
Morning everyone
Sorry, I've not posted for a couple of days.
Had a lovely time last night with some friends from work. We went out to a "Pudding Night" being held in a local hotel - the pudding lover's dream, as there were 10 different ones to try. After that, the chefs did a cookery demonstration with chocolate. At the end of the night we got doggy bags to take home! DH was well chuffed with that, given that I'd left him behind!!
Going to be a busy bee tonight, as I've got to make some food to take along to a ceilidh tomorrow night - so a big pan of soup and some home baking is on the schedule. As well as planning to make a big pan of chilli for our own dinner for the next couple of nights.
But first, a day of work to get through.....
Have a good day everyone and hugs all round.0 -
Morning peeps
very cold again here this morning, BRRRRR! i`m waiting to see if the snow arrives this afternoon as forecast - hope not!
Last day at w*rk for four days now so i`m looking forward to some time off :j i shall be mostly doing housew*rk and painting the kitchen but i`m looking forward to seeing some improvement. I`m absolutely itching to get into the garden but the weather has been too wet and i don`t really want to turn the grass into a mudbath by trampling all over it. I shall have to be content with sorting out my seeds and a little garden planning.
We had mindless idiots around our area last night  someone had kicked the wing Mirrors off a whole row of cars, i`d love to get my hands on them. It happened a few weeks ago too on another street not too far away and someone heard all the noise and called the police - luckily he was carted off but when the residents asked about how they could claim their money back they were told to just claim on their insurance. Hopefully they can find a way around this and make the person who did the damage cough up.
Today i shall be mostly be spent at w*rk and later i hope to sort out my meal planner for next week and update the freezer inventory.
Enough of my ramblings for now
Have a lovely day everyone!
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all,
Hester I went to a Jamie at home party a while back, its nice stuff, but very expensive
Cold again this morning, off to work for me, at least its warm there, put a wash on last night which is almost dry on the airer. And OH took the lock off the front door to see if he could fix it, no such luck something is snapped inside, and we need a new one, cheapest is £61 plus postage
. Will have to order it as all our heating is going out the front door.
I have had porridge for breakfast, and will make a sandwich up for lunch, tea will be chicken chips and peas, I found some veggi kievs for dd to try.
Another wash to go on tonight, and I have sainsbugs delivering. Will swish and swipe the kitchen before I go to work, and will have to put the dw on.
Ok have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Strong coffee this morning. Nope, nary a drop of alcohol in sight last night - just a headache  Wouldn't mind if I'd had been drinking, at least I'd have had the fun part first
No idea what to do today - haven't even seen what the weather is doing so hope it's a dry day. DS wants to play the new Wii game that grandad bought him - Wii Sports Resort. It's very good I have to say and DS seems keen although he's not very good at playing anything. He gets a bit excited and squealy so am putting him off playing it until H gets up.
Tea - well I got what I think was an old portion of chilli out of the freezer but I am not sure we'll eat it. I think it was made with some Tesco Chilli powder that was quite frankly awful - I might see if I can stomach it for lunch with lashing of grated cheese rather than present it to H (who will no doubt turn his nose us as its minced beef.......) Might make it a makeshift night instead then.
N9eav - My Brother and SIL are both coppers, sometimes don't know how they put up with some of the public they deal with. A prisoner injured SIL wrist which will have to be operated on.
nessie - mmmmmm pudding night, sounds like my ideal night out :rotfl:
essex-girl - good luck with your horrible phone call xx
sunnygirl - I find DT board more toxic. I used to post on there more often but have lost interest in the pointless p*ssing contests between certain posters and the endless benefit/parent/Tory/Labour bashing that goes on. OS is much more interesting.
Hester - I LOVE your work stories :rotfl:
MrsMH - my DD was on 98th centile for head, weight and size and I didn't have a C Section  2nd degree tear (I had a 3rd with DS!) and a poor baby with a VERY bruised face - I hate looking at newborn pics of her as she looks like a battered child. She was a bit fast coming and as such she never even ended up with a cone head. My MW said I must have a pelvis like a bucket :rotfl:
Diva - hope your sorting out your stuff OK.
Lowesy - hugs to you and your H xx
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning
Went out for tapas last night (MS Job:D) I thought it was quite nice although DH who's fussier than me said it was 'interesting' :rotfl: Have to say the highlight was the sangria...lovely stuff
Wages from proper job in bank today a day early too:j but have to resist the splurge-urge as things are very tight this month!
Need to meal plan and organise a shop - I have a £10 off code for Mr T's and a free delivery code...not sure if Ican use them both together but I'll try!
Really need to sort out DD's clothes again as she seems to have grown 3 inches while I wasn't looking....
Hope everyone has a good day
