I got into it through contacts, Paula - you can do courses but most of them are rubbish (eg the ads you see in the papers). From what I hear, it's not an easy field to break into, but it helps if you have experience of a particular subject. For example, if you've worked as a nurse you could proofread medical texts.

The rival thread has dropped down to page 2 - yes, no chat, but no ... well, no anything really (stop gloating Amber ...)

I've got a degree in marine biology  you'd think I'd have used it by now but I had a bit of a confidence crisis/breakdown type thing at the end of it and it's took me long to get this sorted... plus I'm kind of dug in now with all these kids :o
Oh it's the rival thread now, is it? :rotfl:GO DRIBBLERS I say :T
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

Does anyone know if there are any rules with regards to e-mail marketing. I have the business e-mail addresses of about 150 local decision makers in the field that I am marketing too.

Am I allowed to just send this flyer to them, once I have tweaked it, or are there any data protection issues?

    Thanks.

I can only speak from experience. with the last company that I worked for I did an eshot once a month, most did not know who we were. We never had any problems as far as I am aware you just have to be careful when ringing them as they may be on an opt out of telemarketing phone list and you can be fined if they complain.

I do (did) telemarking, marketing etc in my past life

Hi all-Indierocker-well done on selling some sim cards-it will happen!

After all your suggestions and help yesterday I have updated my Prom page of the website and made it Bridesmaid and Prom-I've written some blurb and made up some pieces in different colours to photograph and put on there so people can see what the jewellery looks like in colours other than white! thanks for the kick up the bum :-)

I'm in the process of researching this too.

There are several 'rules' if you like. Cant remember them all but if you google it, you can get lots of information.

Rules about what you can advertise, how often you can send out the flyers, there needs to be a way of them being able to opt out of future mailings, name and address etc.. need to be displayed etc..

That's fab - the website looks great, like the new descriptions :T As well as the new pics, i'd add the colour charts again that you've got on the other page - i think it helps to inspire the buyer into believing they are being creative too, as well as showing the full range of what you can produce. Well, it worked for me! x
