OMG!!!
I can't believe I forgot to tell you all about my news. I got picked to be in a Dove photoshoot on Thursday. All started when I reviewed a free shower cream sample. I am so excited. I have no aspirations to be a model or anything like that but due to all the inspiration on here I have decided to do it. Normally I would have been too nervous :-)
I will get my travel expenses paid for plus they supply lunch and I get a £20 high street voucher so it will even add to the pot :-)
Will have to spend all day Wednesday working out how to put on make-up again :-)
Thanks to you all

Munchki - what advice would you give one of us if it was us filling in the form? Can you do it for someone else....I think I mean what information would you tell someone else to put in?
You are in a fantastic position normally you have to answer wuestions like this cold but you have already chatted with them twice on the phone. I would write down everything I can remeber (if you haven't already) and then go through and take out the key points that fit into each question and recall your own examples......
Sorry just trying to maybe give you a fresh way of thinking.
Well done jmrance!!!!Life is a work in progress0 -
Still haven't managed to catch up with the last 50 or so pages
However ....
Munchki - I have conducted quite a few interviews over the last few years and the way I help friends, etc to prepare themselves is use the following structure, it's quite common practice (and maybe a little outdated by the psychometric testing some firms are now opting for) but I'm hoping it might help you structure your thoughts.
General skills, knowledge and experience which includes ... what skills do you have that are relevant to the role, what experience do you have (from a previous role, etc) which is relevant to the role you are applying for and what knowledge of the subject do you have.
Followed by a competence based interview where they look for particular examples and the best way to structure your response is using the STAR format, start off by explaining the Situation, followed by the Task which is what you did to identify requirements, how you planned your approach followed by Action - what you did (the doing bit) followed by Result - what you achieved. This should hopefully answer their question within the need for too many probing questions.
Hope that has helped a little bit

Think I am starting to write a bit too much on here now but here goes.
I wrote a blog ages and ages ago when I was having depression and men problems (I think) and I thought it might help some of you on here. I have not read it since I wrote it and I know it is very private but I trust you all on here and if it helps someone then that would be great.
It is private so you would have to PM me your email address so I could invite you.
This is really scary as I know I was in a very bad place and am even afraid to read it back but I am taking the plunge.
Am off out now for a few hours with OH and puppy :-)
See you all later.

Well, two down and now just the big Why one to go, just having a bit of a break, have pork joint in crockpot the past few hours mmmm lemon pork, tatties all peeled, veg ready to go all for later. I just took 10 mins and coloured my hair, funny how that can give you just an instant lift and a bit of confidence! In nov I had 18 inches + cut off my hair and that made such a huge diff as well.
Now doing lots of reading about the company, think I have the job spec memorised now and the role itself is very close to my what my last role was, not just have to target it a bit diff. i will get there and she will have it in the morning. Than all that is left is to analyse the Belbin thing and complete that then job done!
Hoping to do a bit of cross stitch later as need to finish up something before I head to scotland this weekend as it is going to some very dear friends up there.
Ok, back to the research but I am still here doing a bit of reading as well, I find it really helps to clear the thoughts. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it!I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -
We have dribbled so much that this thread is getting a bit soggy, so I've started a new one. Your leader now expects to see you on

omg Munchki, you've just given me a blast from the past. We spent a lot of time understanding Belbin and how we contributed to the team in my last role, if you've got any questions give me a shout as I may be able to help. Btw, your dinner sounds lovely

munchki - have you ever been to Dundee in the peeing rain with the wind blowing off the Tay? you'll get here and then you can learn the words of the wonderful poet William Topaz McGonagall, stand at tannadice and have a peh, then skip up and down the Wellgate steps shouting "meh peh went ske heh"
Ha ha, this made me laugh!! My dad's a Fifer and was always quoting William McGonagall when I was growing up. I bought him a book of his poems a few years ago and we sat peeing ourselves reading through it - everyone else thought we'd lost the plot but we had a great night!!
