Hi all,
This thread is moving twice as fast as the old one lol.
Thanks nikki for the pinecone thread, fingers crossed that I will be accepted.Jan £10 a day £326.75/£3100 -
March is the start of 'Fresher' events to motivate people for exams, they are more like Open days but there tends to be stalls selling things as they are popular with new and existing students. Goth stuff sounds like a great idea, too.
I've changed my sig, and I'm feeling a bit more at home now. I like the chat, even if I'm dribbling useless banter...it makes me happy and keeps me motivated!Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -
Amber I must say I love your sig!!! :rotfl:0

Ok I am a little bit worried that this is going to split into bingo's ideas thread (which I respect) and this seen as just a chat thread.
I really hope and want it to stay what it had evolved to be IDEAS and CHAT.
I really hope this becomes our old thread in a new home and I will dip into the other to see if any new ideas like I dip into other bits of up your income and other boards as well.
But please lets not split our origina thread up ito chat and non chat just because someone has started a different approach because it didn't suit them. There was a lot of activity i the thread and for those active members it must have been working so this is not a reason to split our evolved kind of thread up. especially as those who find it doesn't suit them now have a thread that should do. so lets not split up our way of doing it.
Carry on throwing it all into the pot - pleeeeeaaase.

if you are thinking of doing something crafty then it is worthwhile posting on freegle, or on your facebook page etc, asking for a sewing machine, material etc, crafty hobbies are the kind of things people start shell out on and often don't keep up so you may well get an offer of some great useable stuff to get you started. I got a load of material off freegle once for my int design course and gave someone else a bag full of broken bead type jewellery for a jewellery making course she was on, so yeah that is a good idea. Also check at your local community colleges for short courses, day courses etc for soft furnishings, patchwork etc etc if you got the ideas but not the skills.....make a start and the rest will follow (hopefully)0

I think there is so much emphasis put on making loads of money these days or both having to work, often its necessary but sometimes just cos we are used to having everything we want (materially) when we could prob make do on alot less and give the kids the time.....I know which I preferred as a kid, didn't have my mum at home after school etc and god I would have loved too.
I must agree with this wholeheartedly. When my son was born and after my one year meternity leave was up I made the RADICAL (at the time) decision to not go back to work and decided to stay home and be a mum instead of a wage slave! It has caused numerous financial difficulties I can't even begin to explain, a mountain of debt which depresses me sometimes I find it impossible to sleep - but all of that gets forgotten when I look at my son and think how proud I am of him and how confident, independent and well behaved he is. Mind you, I'm not saying that if mums stay at home then their kids necessarily turn out better!!! I'm only trying to say that I know I contributed massively to how he was brought up and if i was back at work full time I would have missed everything from first steps to first words to first everything.
well reading through this, I didn't mean to delve into life history (sorry) but it is a subject i feel so strongly about and i can't for the life of me even start to regret the decision I madeI know that as result we are in debt for a good 5-6 years now but its worth it!! Anyway, I'm going to earn £10k this year so nothing to worry about - if i can do that I can do anything!

the union of my old uni has stalls down stairs all the time selling bags and jewellery. I may well try in Sept. A bit late for this academic year as the begining of this term has been and gone. Next term is all exams so people tend to be busy revising, going home for the summer and moving house so the union is usually empty during summer term. There are a lot of goths/ emos ect round there too (Manchester Metropolitan) and I'm sure I could get some of my friends to come on down and support me by buying stuff.
I dunno, I spent alot of my time in the union spring/summer term, it was a procrastination instead of revising move so you may still be in luck....we had sales different times of year so not only freshers that was just my example!!! You'd do well around Halloween too I suspect...they could get their costumes then esp if you could re-vamp (lol) them a bit to make unique Halloween outfits! But in general think alot of students like to do the goth dressing thing or even expand into vintage, you could put up some ads/posters in the unis and colleges too linking to your website or ebay etc...am sure they would let you.0
