And probably in the car park by about 1030 ready to sit for a few days to complete their scam.

Actually I could see them working on it when I went in this morning; they were still fixing the tracking.

Tracking can be done in no time at all, can't see why they'd still be doing it??

Having read the thread I think to summarise to you:

-You paid too much for the car to start with
    - The car may have been fine when you bought it, Everything you listed is a wear and tear consumable, so how can you call it a lemon?
    - Small claims is absolutely pointless, you'd never win
    - The skoda dealer took you for a mug and ripped you right off, And put the frightners on you to get you to have all the work done
    - You made the mistake of taking a main dealers word as gospel, Learn from it and move on, And if unsure ALWAYS get a second opinion
    - Find a good Independent or VAG specialist.

Ok, the lemon thing was a bit of a joke, please don't take that seriously. :) I will change the title of the thread if it's annoying anyone, it's just a bit of a shock to fork out so much cash so soon, as I'm sure you can appreciate.

It's difficult to not believe the main dealer, when they've taken off all the dangerous bits and can't legally put them back on again to let you take it somewhere else! So they kind of had me over a barrel. I guess I shouldn't have gone there in the first place. I was taking my boyfriend's advice, because we don't know the area very well and wanted work done that we could trust.

It was the last thing they had left to do, so they left it until this morning. I was there first thing.
  • As for Spot the Dog... you said you had been learning tonight...

Another point to note is remember the old parts still belong to you if you are ever skeptical about wether things will be changed make sure they know at the start you want them back, and mark them so you know the work has been done if you can / want to.

they can legally do whatever you tell them, if you say put the worn brake discs back on then they should, you are not legally obliged to get them to do the work. they are not going to call the police if you leave there and if the police did pull you over and found defective parts then you could not use the garage as a defense against this. your the driver your responsible.

don't use this garage again they sound just as bad as some of the fast fit centres.

That's actually wrong, the car has an MOT, and it is perfectly legal for them to put the bits back and you to drive it away. This sounds more like Kwikfit than a Skoda dealer! These are scare tactics used by garages to get people to part with money.

Name and shame the dealer I say to help everyone else avoid it! They deserve some bad publicity! (Probably best left till you've gotten the car back though). Also post their details here http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/53-skoda-retailer-network-reviews/? although by how bad they sound I wouldn't be surprised if they already have a negative mention on there.

Ok, thankyou. Do you mean that the *ahem* 'SLOW' fit garages (I shouldn't think that I can use the trade name on here) are unreliable too? Sheesh...the mechanics industry is like a minefield!!
