    hahahaha

£775 to fit a cam belt (2 hours (ish), Service (1 hour) and Brake repairs (2 hours)

So basically you have probably paid over £100 an hour - nearer £150 -labour rate before VAT with most of the working being done by "technicians" rather thaan proper mechanics.
  • Bulbs were two rear indicator bulbs...8.72 for the labour to fit those, and the price of them was 5.16.

well it should only take at most 10 minutes to change the rear indicator bulbs so by my reconning they charge £87.20 per hour for labour

    £5.16 for these?
you can check and change these yourself, you should check them regularly how is anyone behind you meant to know which way your going if both rear indicator bulbs are blown?
    ...work permit granted!

The car's been in since Friday morning.

Why are you laughing? That's a bit much.

I'm not sure if I've got that right then, since I did check them a few days before putting it into the garage. Maybe they mean something else?

And probably in the car park by about 1030 ready to sit for a few days to complete their scam.

And I am laughing because you have been completely mugged off by the dealer and want to sue someone else for it and probably are going to back the dealer next time they charge you £200 for a tyre or something.

that works out about right with my quick calculation then. £87.20 per hour plus vat is £102.46 per hour.

did you ask them to do this or did they just decide upon it themselves?

No, I'm asking for advice on something I know nothing about.

In my original post I was enquiring about taking legal action, but I'm not planning on doing that anymore as I have learned something tonight. So thanks to the majority of people on here who've made HELPFUL comments.

Nobody's perfect, I'm sure you've made mistakes in your life too.

The dealer prices for tyres fully fitted I've seen aren't too bad compared with Kwikfit etc.
  • Having read the thread I think to summarise to you:

-You paid too much for the car to start with
    - The car may have been fine when you bought it, Everything you listed is a wear and tear consumable, so how can you call it a lemon?
    - Small claims is absolutely pointless, you'd never win
    - The skoda dealer took you for a mug and ripped you right off, And put the frightners on you to get you to have all the work done
    - You made the mistake of taking a main dealers word as gospel, Learn from it and move on, And if unsure ALWAYS get a second opinion
    - Find a good Independent or VAG specialist.
War does not decide who is right, It decides who is left.
