you should investigate what is actually done at MOT time. its not a service, nothing gets taken off or fully investigated.
brakes are put on rolling road and effort and balance is tested, your brake pads could be down to the very last but still hold enough to pass test.same with shoes on back.
the wheel cylinders could have started leaking at any time,if your VW garage were any good they should have done a full brake fluid change and not just bled it.
your TCA bushes could pass with one inspector and fail with the next these are entirly up to the individual tester to decide.
as others have said the cam belt is not a MOT item, its a service item.
small claims i think you need to pay a certain small fee to raise the case against them, wig will be here soon enough to tell you your legal stance im sure....work permit granted!0 -

But you said.Replace rear bump stops (to do with the brakes I believe, which were described as 'non-existant' at the rear
Which has sod all to do with the brakes.0 -

We actually got 300 off the original price for everything, there was a lot of work needed doing and it is all broken down for me.
Everyone is saying that I got ripped off, but as I said, I haven't listed everything. Also I shall perhaps try another garage next time, but I'm a young girl, it's my first car....you hear about lots of stories of women getting ripped off at garages....perhaps you can understand why I went to a main dealer?0 -
Hi there,
Sorry, i dont think you've any comeback; it's a 10 year old car, you've had it 6 months and all the items you list are wear and tear.
You paid well over the odds for it, the garage which done the repairs have also overcharged, and to add insult to injury are winding you up by feeding you manure like, "this should never have passed an MOT etc etc".
People need to realise, if you're buying a 2nd hand car, especially one thats 10 years old,
1. Take someone with you that knows about buying cars,
2. Check it thoroughly and ask LOADS of questions,
3. Be prepared to spend money in the future like perishables like pads etc.
Take it on gthe chin, thats what i'd do....no one else is to blame.0 -

Cambelt change (apparently this needs doing every 4 years in an automatic like my car, there was no evidence of this having ever been done)
when VW dealer told you this this eans that they have no record of it on thier computer system as having ever been done at a VW dealership in the past. it could however have ben done anywhere else. after even 1 years running it would be hard to find any evidence of a belt change (unless a sticker with date on it or tipex somewhere)....work permit granted!0 -

To be fair, we got 300 off the original price...and as I said I haven't listed all the work done.
Perhaps you can understand why I went to a dealer to get the work done guys, I'm a young girl, and you hear a lot of stories about independent small garages ripping women off. I appreciate that I should perhaps go to an independent next time though, so thanks for that. It's so hard to know who to trust!! And you want to feel safe in your first car.0 -

Ok, I'm sorry that I'm no brakes expert, blimey!
I will list all the parts if that will help.
In the parts it quotes:
oil filter; roller; vbelt; repair kit; parts kit; rubb mount; spray jet; buffer; wheel cylinders; set of brake; brake shoe; pollen fil; switch; brake disc; screen wash; bulb; bulb; screw; hell helix.0 -
They really saw you coming then, sorry.0

Sorry...it's a Skoda dealer, not VW, is that still the same then?0
