Fitzio - I know all of that, you've not offended me. He is like a child and I think he thought having a baby wouldn't change our lives - he keeps telling Jack if he's a good boy he can stay up at watch the footy but he doesn't understand that Jack gets tired around 7pm!

The silent treatment today and then words tonight will sort him out

Glam - you need to sort your OH out. Who cares if he gets woken in the night - he has a baby!!! He needs to get used to it. You do as much as possible to deal with all the night stuff, but he needs to get his finger out and help sometimes and give you a flaming break. That is ridiculous behaviour. I am sorry, I am on another rant again, but really - he doesn't deserve you or Jack. He is a child and needs a kick up the ar*e. He is a father now and really should start acting like one. I am actually really angry reading these posts!!! I am sure he is a nice enough guy but I think he needs a wake up call. I would honestly lock the doors and send him back to his mum unless he can act like a grown up. I am going to go now as I fear I have probably offended you! Sorry. x

Damn, Fitzio beat me to it and was way more blunt than I was intending! :p DITTO. I'm a real grouch when woken up at night, so can DH be, but at the end of the day we know he doesn't wake up to be spiteful or intentional naughty - a baby is a baby! Sounds like the real baby of the family is your OH! I'm sure you love him, Glam, but this thread are scandalised on your behalf ;)

I'd be putting the bedroom light on and flinging duvets and sheets around.. is he 3??? He'd need more than earplugs.. selfish, inconsiderate, ignorant turd!! Does he think you ENJOY getting up 10 times a night?

And there was me trying to be as delicate as possible.

What Fitzio said, actually. If I was in that position I'd suggest that if it happened again I'd be packing his stuff while he was at work and he could enjoy uninterrupted sleep at his mother's while figuring out that being a grown up and a father entails a loss of the stuff we were used to before.

I found it hard when OH first came home from the hospital because as far as he was concerned he was coming back into an established routine, not realising that the routine had changed because Molly was a month older and bigger and needed less sleep and more interaction. And even though I spent a lot of time fuming for various reasons I knew he was trying his best and that was ok. It doesn't seem like your OH is, he seems very excited to be living with his brother and it's like playtime and somehow you've taken over the mummy role for everyone so he can behave like the older brother. Not ok.

I have a small square dining room which is one end of an L-shaped kitchen/dining room. My current table is the Ikea leksvig gateleg table, but it's too big really. We have one end down and the other up but I don't like it. We have the matching chairs but need new ones. Anyone any ideas on a 4 seater smallish dining table? Are square ones or round ones more space saving?

I saw something on tv the other day, possibly 60 Minute Makeover?, they said that round tables were more space saving.
ETA What about one of those foldy-up ones where the chairs store inside.

his parents live 4 hours away unfortunately.

Just gonna tell him tonight that if he ever does it again then I'll leave for a week with Jack and see how he manages to fend for himself.

Right, I need to get some housework done before I meet Sami later x

To be fair, I think sometimes we rant about the bad bits about our OHs and don't bother telling people about the good bits. I think having BIL there has made Glams life harder than it needs to be (if ANYBODY suggested moving in with us whilst we had a small baby they would be told where to go in no uncertain terms!!). And I think having BIL there may have made it seem even more like Mr Glam can still be a kid.

A good talking to is def the way forwards Glam. I would approach the subject of BIL staying too. It has been long enough for him to find his feet. Once you go back to work will you be expected to work, look after Jack, OH and BIL?? Sounds like a recipe for a very unhappy mummy if you ask me. xx
