My C-section was because my labour was mismanaged and Molly went into distress, but I was induced at 40+5 because there was almost no amniotic fluid left and I wouldn't be inducable (is that a word?) a second time because of the risk of rupture.
I remember LuT talking about how her consultant said that there is a new way of doing induction which has a much lower risk of uterine rupture. Obviously just because it exists doesn't mean that every hospital or doctor will use or be willing to use it but it could be worth enquiring about when you are next receiving antenatal care.

Plus he could !!!!!! off home at night for a decent sleep!
I think I got better sleep than OH because he had to drive home before he could go to bed. When I rang him in the morning to say I was up and to come in, it woke him and he was so tired he forgot I wasn't there and was asking me whether he should answer the phone until he realised that I wasn't there and that it was me who was phoning him.

If I could get my phone to stop thinking it's 1998 and actually be a camera phone I'd take a picture of the baby herbal teas at the supermarket.

Fennel, chamomile and rosehip. For babies.
I'm sure we got sent some samples of fennel tea for babies by HiPP organic. (I just gave them to OH.)

I called him at 6.20am screaming 'The baby's coming, get back here now' To which he replied '!!!!!!, I've only just got back to sleep' He turned up at 7.10am (cos he washed his hair before he left )
 I told OH I wanted to go to hospital immediately at 9pm and we didn't leave the house till ten. I know he was making himself sandwiches but have no idea why it took him so long to get ready.

He was faffing with his hair at 2.30am debating whether it needed washing or not, his hair does get very greasy once he's slept on it - I didn't want a greaseball in the photos! I purposely didn't wet my hair when I had a shower at 1am because I wanted it to look nice for the photos! :rotfl:
First thing I did when I got on the ward at 4.30am was have a bath and dunk my head straight under!
My hair was due a wash when I went into labour but I never thought of washing it so I just look terrible in all the first photos.

Chicken dippers are awesome, but when I was PG and had no energy OH took over the cooking and we lived on a cycle of any birds eye chicken with chips, pizza and chips, sausages and chips and takeaways... we still eat these things, but only once a month each, and only to keep him onside for the rest of the "boring" healthy stuff we eat ;)
When OH did the cooking for me I always told him exactly what to cook. Sometimes I would sit in the kitchen and direct him as he was cooking if it was a recipe he didn't know.

Ah but the bonus is Bruno that you can nick info off his tree when you get access, thats what I did... If you have clubcard vouchers I see they are doing a family tree package for £15 that includes 6 months Ancestry membership so you could get this and see if you like it before committing more money - I'm thinking of doing this...
I want to get that but OH reckons I don't have enough time for it.

Its just just my earning potential, its the maintenance OH pays DSD's mum :o my hourly rate is more than his though.
She is on benefits so is only allowed £80 a month of the actual maintenance money he pays, but the CSA take over £150 from him and put the rest back into benefit funding  he is going to set up a standing order for £80 a month straight into her account labelled clearly as maintenance money, which is more than the CSA will deem him able to pay. This way we have a clear conscience, as DSD isnt going to suffer or be short of money from him being at home.
That is absolutely shocking. (The bit I bolded that is.) They shouldn't be allowed to get away with doing that kind of thing. Fine to make parents pay to fund their own children but not to take extra for other things. It's effectively a tax on being the non-residential parent.

does anyone know why 'they' do elective c/s 'early'?
I would think (as a random not medically trained person) that it was best to do it as close to due date as poss?
Presumably it is more conveneint as people are less likely to go into labour beforehand and therefore it keeps their schedules running nicely.

Sami - technically 38 weeks is not 'early', it is a full term pregnancy

I liked csh's point. I would much rather have a surgeon, anaesthatist, and medical team who are ready for me than a rush job because I went into labour. I also imagine that actually going into labour can be quite dangerous for some women. My CM doesn't dilate and so it is dangerous for her to go into labour and she had CS's with both her girls (dunno details! don't shoot me!!)

    ARSED

Susan - an hour to make a sandwich

    How about the 'non-residential' parent?

my mat hospital, only book in so many planned sections per day, so i imagine they do them 38/39 weeks so everyone is planned in.

my emer one was at 39+1

i'll more than likely be having c/s next time.

with the high BP and that they dont like to induce you if you have had a prev section etc i;m an ideal candidate.

dont mind either has had no after pains and hardly any bleeding at all. plus my mum looks after me :D

    Afternoon all..

Orthoptics lady said she's happy to carry on with 6-8wk check ups if we think there is an improvement (which we do), but there is an operation Rhys could have if we wanted.. Eye surgery creeps me out _pale_ :( We've got eye patches to try him with to make his left eye work a bit harder (his right was worse but now that's improved, his left looks worse ). I asked how long he should have them on for.. her answer "Oh, not too long.... I'd say max 2 hours" - two hours, is she having a laugh?! He was trying to take them off after two minutes!

Called into the reception of the maternity/childrens dept and asked them to phone up to NeoNatal to see if it was okay if we went up. Good job I checked cos they had an emergency going on :( Will try again on Friday when we're there again :)

I presume he was doing other preparations he thought were necessary too but I have no idea what. All of my stuff was ready, the car seat had been installed in the car for a month already and he forgot the camera.
    How about the 'non-residential' parent?
Thanks that's what I was looking for but it was eluding me.

weezl you have a pm x

Yet again charlie is away to his choo choo bed so i have an hour or so of peace :D the girl who was meant to be coming hasnt text so im not sure if she is still coming? went to docs and she is not putting me back onto AD she said i seem a lot brighter and would prefer me to get councelling with someone other than the CPN. i also got the depo in my arm and it is aching hopefully it should stop the cramps?

with Charlie i remeber telling OH to get ready now as i needed to go, we had to drop the kids off which was at the other side of town and buy the time we got to the hospital carpark i could hardly move! it took 20 mins from the car inside which was only around 30 steps lol! i stood holding onto the bed unable to get on it and had to be lifted on 25 mins later i was holding him and the second midwife walked in!

I didn't say wait until the mother was in labour :p
I was just musing anyhow and was thinking mostly from the health of the baby POV not really taking into account needed sections (assuming it's an elective section for non medical reasons)
    off now

Jillie - glad visit went ok. makes going make to work not so aunting if you like the place they will be in.

still waiting for blimming HR to phone me back about start date. they don't seem to understand that yes it is a few months away but I need to sort the creche out AND hand my notice in to work. As it's within my SMP period I think I'll have to give 8 weeks notice rather than just 4.

OH is gonna pitch a fit when he gets home! I said I wanted the TV out of the kitchen - he put it there when we moved in and it's been on once! I've moved it myself and put it in the conservatory :p
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
