    Definite stripe!

    Seconded!

Aless - It can be a pain. When we met at the Trafford Centre I wore my sling and it can be awkward, I had Jack on my knee while I had my food or I took advantage of MFD & 3 who gave him cuddles while I did what I need to do ;):) I so tend to put him down on a seat but won't be able to do this much as he's very wriggly now.
When OH and I went out on Friday we put him in a highchair but pbviosuly Finn is abit small for that atm.
I think if I was going clothes shopping I wouldn't take my sling - it would be far too much hassle for me with teh Joey to keep untying and retying it.

  • Krystal (or anyone else!) I have a feeding question. For the last day or so Izzy has been biting me when feeding. Not proper big chompy biting, but putting a bit of pressure on with her teeth. It is only on my left side, and I think it is because she isn't opening her mouth far enough. (she is biting me at the base of the nipple which I don't think would be the right place if she was latched on properly?) I've tried taking her off and starting again, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. She normally just sits on my lap and leans forward towards me to feed, but I've tried holding her "like a baby" and that doesn't make any difference either. I've got the lansinoh out, but any other ideas/tips?
She probably is teething a little, they experiment a lot with their mouths when they're teething as it all feels differently... You're doing the right thing in changing positions to see if something else works, and if it's the bottom of the nipple she's getting then she's definitely not latched on properly... One thing to bear in mind is that if her teeth are out then she's not feeding... To feed, her tongue will have to be covering the bottom two teeth, so don't feel bad for taking her off for it... have you tried the rugby ball hold? If she's latching on OK on the other side, maybe it's that she's getting ear ache or similar leaning to one side? She's old enough now that she knows what she's doing so it's just a case of exoerimenting until you find something that works... For this week anyway... Remember... It's just a phase ;)

Actually, MFD took advantage of the situation and grabbed the gorgeous Jack for a cuddle and a chat :D He gurgles and coos like something I have never heard - he is SO cute!!

Although you did make me v nervous having posted that Jack can roll and then leaving him laying on the seat!!!

Stripe it will be then! What's the betting that if I like them the denim will follow!!!

  • Mfd, I like your stopping smoking analogy for giving up breastfeeding... They're so very similar :p

If you're only feeding morning and evening now then one way you could go about stopping is using the distraction technique... If you usually bring him in bed for cuddles and a feed in the morning, spend a few days getting up a bit earlier, jump in the shower with him, or get up and sit on the sofa and look at a book together, anything that replaces the cuddles so you're still getting close time but it's not associated with feeding... If you cut down one feed at a time you don't get over supply issues and it draws out the process so it's not too much of a wrench...

hehe - he's only ever rolled in his cot. When he sleeps he rolls loads but not much when he's awake. I did have my eye on him honest!
I need to stop sitting him on the sofa and put him on his playmat more :o

He has been so chatty the last 2 days - a proper shouter! I couldn't get his food in fast enough and he was yellign at me and bouncing really hard in his chair:rotfl:Just wish he'd take his milk, we are now down to 4 small milk feeds a day *confused*

Right, I'm off to put some of these bags out for collection and then hit bed, no idea how long he'll sleep tonight. Last night was just one wake up at 4am and then 7am but he's had less milk today.

yes, it might be the case that sling actually isn't best for situations like eating out until baby can sit in a highchair!

3 - yeah, actually was thinking about this, too. Once I have my bag to faff with, adding shopping bags to it too might be a bit much. WHen I took Finn to the pool, I wore a backpack with him in the sling, which was 10x more comfortable than carrying anything by hand, I imagine! not the trendiest thing in the world, but who cares...

MFD - giving up BF is weighing heavily on my mind. I really should have given up when I went back to work but I didnt. So I said I'd give up when she reached 6 months but I didnt and now she's 8 months old. I do morning and night feeds and on my days off and weekends, anything goes really. Leila quite often has a bottle an hour or so before a BF.

I am pretty sure the BF is more of a comfort thing with her and I sort of feel the same way. I dont really look at it as 'feeding' her really because she has bottles and food too. I just like to have a special snuggle on the sofa or in bed even if its only for 10 minutes.

We are going to Israel in 6 weeks so I think I will try to give up a couple of weeks before. If I dont do it then, then Leila may well get to a year old and still be BF too!!!

Aless - I think I need a backpack! It is so hard to carry a bag as well, if I pop it over my shoulder it interferes with the sling and if I hold it it just feels strange!

Weezl - my fairies will be winging their way down to you tomorrow. All in a pile ready just need to wrap, address and send :)

I like the stripe ones MFD.

I've got a pair of those but in a different pattern and they are so comfy. I got them for my hols in May last year thinking I'd wear them over the summer, but we never really got the weather for them! Will take them away again in May this year.

    These are mine:

Evening all, just catching up...hope you all had nice V days...went out for curry and few drinks last night but turned into bit of a mare as Henry wouldnt go to sleep for my mum, fell asleep on the sofa and then woke up in tears as OH wasnt at home, William wanted constant feeding, curry was poo and then OH started falling asleep in the pub as tired....never mind.

On the subject of William, not sure if he is teething and cant remember what Henry was like but he is constantly shoving his hand in his mouth and gnawing at it especially in between feeds - sign of teething or not?

Whats the latest on Poppie, does anyone know ? and how are you Weezl?
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.
