Also - does anyone else have a baby who drinks bath water and should I be stopping him? At the moment I just find it really funny, he sticks his face in the water to get a mouthful and then comes up spluttering! We already have to have 2 sponges so he can have one to suck and I can have one to wash him.

Katie has a bath approx twice a week. Full wash down wit baby wipes/flannel everyday though, Although now she is admant that she does it herself, so may not be very thorough. lol. i just make sure there is double amount of soap than usual!
on the bath water - yes. We make cups of "tea" in the bath! its lovely, did u not know? You must not have the right kind in your house!! :rotfl:

Tigs, I can't stand thought of pureed meat - I've seen too many "look how gross this food processing is" type programmes (*ahem* noone mention the Maccys! ) - but we've had butter basted chicken breast that just fell apart into tiny bits after a few attacks with a fork Would pureed meat actually look like thick soupy kinda stuff? _pale_

yes it does. I tried it all that time ago when weaning Katie. i tried chicken and it just looks GROSS. i never did feed her it. _pale_

Elle, Rhys looks like he is doing great! Does he cruise along furnature yet? Or just stepping on the spot? Either way, alls good Don't worry about crawling, neither of my boys crawled. DS1 was a on his back doing a backwards frog manuver and then rolling into position.

Awww.. bless her! Those "nests" (the patterned fabric thing with straps) are really good - designed to mimick the safe feeling of the womb apparently.

Yep, that's it Yeah, he has a door bouncer, a Jumperoo and a walker (at mum's so only used once a week and mostly for bashing the toys on the front of it), but nothing is as good (or as encouraging perhaps?) as stepping towards Daddy apparently (I've been standing behind him, so he can't see me, but heads towards Daddy)

Evening, not staying on I'm too tired. Need to ask a question, sorry really rude to just come on and butt in. DD is expressing, without help I might add. Hospital don't even feed her. She hasn't got milk yet but she said earlier it takes her almost an hour to fill a syringe, is this right, I never expressed in the early days?

Little one is better tonight after a blood transfusion this afternoon, more settled. And there has been no more bleeding in her lungs thank goodness.

Gotta run to the car in the carpark. Be a few minutes. X

Tara, I hand expressed for the 1st 2 days to get the colostrum and it took me an hour and a half to get less than 5ml
After day 4 when I used the hand pump for the first time (although my milk still hadnt completely come in) it took about 15 mins and I was getting about 10ml each time

Glad baby is picking up xx You know we are sending all our love xx

sorry tara cant help on that one but im so glad DGD is doing better .. very shocked shes had no help on bf though hope DD is going ok xxxx

Benjamin took a stacking cup up into the bath with him today - although I think he was just so excited when I opened the living room door and let him go through and climb the stairs that he forgot he had it in his hand!

I am kind of thinking that if it is not 'bad' for him then I just let it pass! I am kind of proud of him for sticking his head in just to get a mouthful of water although I was laughing at him and he will do anything to make you laugh!!


I forgot to say earlier - Benjamin and I went out for a walk and when we came back the neighbour came to her window and called me over (the nice neighbour, not the nosy ones). She asked if I was okay because she was worried about me because she had seen me go out on Friday and I looked terrible!!! She thought I was ill - it was the morning I overslept and went out without makeup and with my hair slapped back in a ponytail!!! I knew I didn't look great but I didn't think I looked bad enough to make the neighbours talk!


Just spoke to my dad, he said he didn't know what my mother was on about, that of course they are coming tomorrow and that they are bringing at least 1 nephew with them (the 6yo), the 3yo says he doesn't want to come :rotfl:

Tara, I HATED the stupid god dammed syringe! Stupidest bloody idea ever! I did it once then told them I wouldn't do it again, its horrible and degrading. (or it was to me, sorry, that sounds really bad)

BUT, day 3 when I was 'allowed' to use the pump. it was fine. Started off 20mls, then sneaked upto 40mls etc. But I was breast feeding in between.

Anyway, I got a whopping 1ml with the syringe, so she is doing good. Milk will come in soon and she can start pumping. The massage before really does help, and get a small blanket in with baby to get her scent, then get your daughter to sniff it or cuddle it while pumping.

ETA, and if she has a pump of her own, she can use it. With DS1 I pumped form day 1 with no problems. So long as she keeps it to a gentle suction she should be fine.
