Sami - yes the poop is solid, I can see it coming out but it's as if it's too big? And that's what hurts her. Will try giving her some water. Does it still have to be cooled boiled at almost 7 months?

I think from 6mths tap water is fine:) Not sure if you want to give her some cooled boiled at first though, and have it nice and warm..might help to get things moving a bit quicker.

  • Mel- my nephew is the same age as Kai and he sometimes has cow's milk during the day, especially if they're out and about and there's no formula available.

I think SS is still on[STRIKE] her jollies[/STRIKE] a work trip In France. 3 was one last night I believe (but maybe wrong as the days seem to merge a bit at the mo).

Is it your scan next week?

Hi gisi...Thanks:) I thought it should be fine. I can't remember when I changed the older two over...it seems sooo long ago!!

It is indeed my scan next week (Tuesday) I can't wait to just get it over and done with tbh. Not sure why but I just feel nervous about it, not excited at all!!!

Ds2 has a trip to Chester zoo tomorrow with beavers, I hope it stays nice and dry for them.

pink if its solid i would even put water into her solids, have you thought about a little diluted fresh OJ, might help to get things going!

i think i may have just got the outlaws a new dog lol! they have been after another lab for a while and dont have the money to go and buy a pup. everytime one has come up they have just missed out and been really upset. i messaged a girl who is selling her pup as she has just had a baby and is fining it too hard, she is over the moon that she will be rehomed with another dog and have 7 grandchildren to play with! so fingers crossed all goes well and the dogs love each other :D:D:D

I am going to switch Kai's afternoon bottle to cows milk...no harm doing this is there? He will still be having his morning and evening one kept to formula until next month. I have been considering it for the last week or so, and as I seem to be low on formula this weekend I am thinking I may as well do it now!! I will put it in a bottle at first but I think by the time I drop formula completely, next month, it will go in a cup during the day and he will just have a bottle morning and night then!
I believe the main issues with cow's milk are ease of digestion and lack of iron. Only you can make a judgement about the risks as you know your baby and whatthe rest of his diet is like. In the CAR, the WHO advises switching to cow's milk at nine months rather than twelve months because they know that people are likely to water formula down because of the cost and they judge it is safer to switch sooner than give watered down formula. Personally if I was going to start using cow's milk as a drink before twelve months, I would give cultured milk (i.e. buttermilk, yoghurt or kefir) and be very particular about making sure I gave iron rich foods.

    [STRIKE]Morning[/STRIKE] Afternoon all :)

Just been looking in the freezer and after tonight's tea (which isn't very varied), we're down to four cubes of carrot and two of cauliflower, so I guess that answers what I'm doing with my day! Just waiting for OH to get in from work, then I can go shopping. Have got a list of twelve F&Vs to get plus anything else I see.

    Hope all are well xx
  • Have you tried Rhys with avocado yet, Elle? I just thought of it as I'm eating guacamole for lunch. Avocado is nice and calorie rich!

Water is good, as is orange juice as others have mentioned. The other thing to try is baby massage. If you rub her tummy in circular clockwise (as this is the direction in which the bowel works) motions, this can sometimes help them go :D
