elle/susan, quick warning the thread discussing that 8 boys and wanting a girl programme seems to have 8 out of 10 posters using that phrase that you rightly pointed out is unhelpful and a bit offensive. Just wanted you to spare yourselves any unnecessary annoyance :)

Yeah, I read a bit of it. I get more annoyed when I hear it said by people who I know are well aware of Rhys' story and yet they still say it, iyswim  Kinda like I can accept ignorance is bliss but if you have some knowledge, think before you speak. But then I'd hope if I was having that kind of conversation with anyone, they'd know me well to accept my need to rant about it ;) (I'm waffling now.. can you tell? :p)

hi all, after some opinions on contraception. Got an appointment Monday and my options are getting limited - I can never remember to take a daily pill, injections out as I was on it for 10+years before, don't fancy implanon as you can feel it through your skin! so What other options have I got and any good/bad experiences? at the mo we are just using condoms but thinking I would prefer something else.

Had a good meeting with my boss today - she had expected me to want to go part-time so that was good she just needs to get the director of finance to agree (she is going to try and catch him on a good day lol), she is hoping to get my mat leave cover to take over from my assistant when she retires/i return later this year, altho I may have to work some KIT days in sep and return to work a month early in Oct :( (small price to pay if it avoids a load of mess) I have also booked two KIT days in April toassist with the year end work.

saw my HV on Thurs and did another PND test which I just "passed" but I have been loads happier since my trip to Wales. She said she probably would have advised me to go to my GP if she had seen me a week before and advised me to stop breastfeeding - so relieved I didn't see her earlier. She has given me loads of info re parent and toddler groups so planning to go out and about a bit more next week.

PS those who recommended swaddling - it worked last night when I was trying to get T back to sleep at 2am :)

karen - speaking of swaddling, I'm a big advocate of the "Happiest Baby on the Block" method that teaches the 5 S's (swaddling, side/stomach position, swaying, shushing & sucking). You can find videos on YouTube in lieu of buying the book. It's generally meant for babies <4 months, so might still benefit Tegan! Also, great news about your HV and PND. Hope you're feeling better? I'm no help on contraception, as I would recommend the implant! (it's really not that bad) actually facing the same appt myself in a week so not sure what I want (no implant this time around as it's a little too long term for me ;))

I'm on my second mirena coil and think its great! No pills to be taken every day, it stops your periods completely for 5 years and your fertility comes back as soon as its taken out. I know some people, who are very sensitive to hormonal contraception find that they can't get on with it due to weight gain and breakthrough bleeding, but if you were fine on the injections you'd probably be fine on this too I should think. The failure risks are very low, though I think one of the regulars here is one of that small number!

Feelie - there is no lingering bad feelings on my part:)

Karen - glad both hv and meeting with your boss went well. Only other non permanent contraception I can think of is the coil....which is something I may have to FORCE myself to have!!!

Hi Karen, Glad Wales made you happy :) you should all move here in fact :D

I've never really got on with any other methods and feel a bit squeemish about the idea of a coil so I'm not much help there I fear.

I'm weird but I kind of like that condoms are quite, ummm clean and tidy IYKWIM? :o

Had a bit of "baby brain" this week, thought I was due to go to a 30th birthday tonight, but phoned my friend to see if she wanted a lift and she told me it was tomorrow night - doh *rolling eye smiley* lucky I telephoned otherwise I'd be sitting on my own in the pub now and that wouldn't have been good. lol Feling really stupid now!
