Thanks all :) I am personally UTI-free but I agree with your OH Feely

I will investigate over-the-counter options to help mitigate OH's intense dislike of visiting the doctor...

would she take the cranberry juice also??? i know they do cranberry and raspberry and that has been used by family members and it's helped. alongside the over the counter options?
Hiya - I bought some of this for my hubby for Christmas, they sell it in Sainsburys and it's near the bottles of beer. I think it tastes more like ginger beer than beer, very nice.

Bruno - I saw the other day that you work near me (Buck Pal road) - have you ever been to Bruno's sandwich bar near St James Park station? Or is that in fact yours too?

thanks dribble, will def take a look see. liking the sound of it not being like beer
  • Anyone know where has got nappies on offer atm? We have about enough for another week I think, but might as well get some this w/e to be on the safe side!

i knew you would know what i was on about :D:D:beer::beer:

i do have a sainsburys, so i could have a look next week.

i am just not a beer drinker in any way shape or form, the smell is vile (same as wine), so i am hoping it more just like the soft drink but with alcohol :D
 Feely beat me to it, I was gonna say whack some voddy in normal ginger beer :D

I sent Becky an email about Sophie but testers have already been allocated, so I'm gonna order another one and be more careful with it!!

    Hi all,

    UTIs!
Do they often go away by themselves? When would you decide it wasn't going away by itself and go to a doctor?
Is there anything available over-the-counter which is relevant?

Unclear and vague questions I know!

Welcome back Krystal, now I can stop stalking you on Facebook maybe :D

wanted to know who it was but you've answered that. UTI's in women can be easy to clear but not so in men, men should go to the GP.

Anyhow any pharmacy or supermarket will sell some form of cystitis relief which is usually a powder dissolved in water - that plus cranberry juice should clear it,. If after 3 days it's still bad she'll need abx from the GP as its likely a UTI as opposed to cystitis. Lots of water will dilute her urine so it doesnt sting as much.
I remember having it so bad I was peeing pure blood at 3am & crying on the bathroom floor on the phone to NHS Direct :o

Ooooh, meant to say, I bought H a Fisher Price googly eyed phone thing in Poundstretchers yesterday - £4.99! Just in case anyone is looking for one. :money:

I had one of those back in 1974! Might have to get one for El if they've still got them in a couple of weeks

oh, has anyone seen the alcoholic ginger beer in any of their shops???? i did see it on the AT show (yuk yuk) and they mentioned waitrose but i do not have one local wondering if anyone has tasted it either. if it is too 'beer' like, then soooo not going to like it

We got some to try, its nothing like beer at all, (thats why I ended up drinking 2 and OH only had a couple of mouthfuls) but its not that gingery either. They sell it in Morrisons and Sainsburys

Congratulations to Granny Tara, hope they are both doing well and getting stronger.

I always go to the doctor as soon as I am sure I have one. (But I did end my honeymoon in hospital and on a drip the firsttime I had one.) I understand that men and children should always consult a doctor but with women it isn't considered so serious.
