Feelie, what does being LLLL involve? is it 'just' a supportive type role? x

These are the sorts of things that LLLL's do:
    Offer prenatal breastfeeding classes
    Raise funds for the Group
Talk to school children studying child development
    Meet with teenage mothers
Attend meetings for breastfeeding support organizations and health professionals to plan joint programs and events
    Write articles for LLL publications
Help plan and organize LLL workshops, study days and conferences
Lead a session at a workshop or Leader Day
Do research or administrative work for LLL
Work on translation of LLL resources

    Hi all,
    UTIs!
Do they often go away by themselves? When would you decide it wasn't going away by itself and go to a doctor?
Is there anything available over-the-counter which is relevant?

Unclear and vague questions I know!

Welcome back Krystal, now I can stop stalking you on Facebook maybe :D

I've always treated my UTIs at home, but OH tried that once and developed a really bad infection. First time in a decade he had time off work! Hospital said that a bloke should always seek help for a UTI.

oh, has anyone seen the alcoholic ginger beer in any of their shops???? i did see it on the AT show (yuk yuk) and they mentioned waitrose but i do not have one local

wondering if anyone has tasted it either. if it is too 'beer' like, then soooo not going to like it
My mum tells me Sainsbury's sell it but we've not got around to trying it yet, It's called crabbies/crabby's I think. if I get some I'll let you know if it holds up against bunderberg ;)

Bruno - warning on uti treatment, I have to avoid the cranberry flavour treatments as they have high level of aspartemine (sp?) and cause mild toxicity it's like I'm absolutely hammered drunk
If it's E I take him gp straight away, if an adult do a course of OTC stuff and if that doesn't clear it then see gp

Thanks all :) I am personally UTI-free but I agree with your OH Feely

I will investigate over-the-counter options to help mitigate OH's intense dislike of visiting the doctor...

Hiya - I bought some of this for my hubby for Christmas, they sell it in Sainsburys and it's near the bottles of beer. I think it tastes more like ginger beer than beer, very nice.

Bruno - I saw the other day that you work near me (Buck Pal road) - have you ever been to Bruno's sandwich bar near St James Park station? Or is that in fact yours too?

i knew you would know what i was on about :D:D:beer::beer:

i do have a sainsburys, so i could have a look next week.

i am just not a beer drinker in any way shape or form, the smell is vile (same as wine), so i am hoping it more just like the soft drink but with alcohol :D

Good spot! I have in fact only ever walked past it :) and no ownership! I should probably visit for lunch some day just to see!

Go to a more old fashioned pharmacy and ask about Pottasium Citrate. I've never seen it on the shelves, but they've usually got a bottle stashed away. It tastes awful, but is a wonder cure for UTIs. I had a few years of reccurant infections, and cranberry juice and similar never worked, but that always does.

AF - could you not put vodka into normal ginger beer?
