Gosh I'm still like twenty pages back!
    :o

    A-hem

I have often wondered if my easy time with BF is down to my hubbys over-exhuberance with my nipples pre-Benjamin. Were they already tougher than most?

Would it be worth suggesting that pregnant women try an intensive course of nipple tweaking and pulling in preparation?

    :o

    A-hem

I just wanted to say before any of you consider trying this that IIRC the Dr Sears book says that this has been proven not to have any beneficial effect.

I have been reading the BF, FF discussion with interest but just wanted to say, in case any new mothers are reading this, to balance the discussion a bit, that BF isn't always painful! Yes it hurts to start with while you get used to it and can hurt a bit later on as well but for me it was never that bad. Just reading on here there are a lot of people going on about how painful it is and I don't want people who haven't tried it to be put off :o

That Land of Play is dead opposite my work - five mins from TC. It's only been there less than 12 months (or thats only when I noticed it cos I was pg!). Dunno if its any good but its near the TC so central enough.

Tara, fingers crossed for DD. xx

Tigs, can you put him on your bed for tummy time? I find it easier as I can kneel on the floor and get good eye contact with her so she is happier to play for a wee while on her tummy. Remember that lying on your chest is tummy time.

MM, mini specs are indeed cute! DS1 was long sighted and had specs for 2 years (from P1-P2) and is all fine now :D

Tigs - Yey for Andrew. 1lb is still okay weight gain isn't it? Better than none! So YEY once more!

Tara - Hope your DD is okay.

MFD - Have you heard from hubby yet?

DKAM - Glad to hear you are liking where you at. You sound really positive about it all so YEY :D

MM - Specs are awesome, mini specs are even cooler. There is a little boy in Keira's nursery who has spex and I just wanna hug him and pinch his cheeks. Hopefully he won't need them, but if he does then he will look ravishing with them.

Physio doesn't recommend the bed, she reckons its too soft for babies to push themselves up (but perhaps without the quilt it would be better) - that's where I took him the other day, and he enjoyed being rolled over and over. "Chest" time is Andrew's favourite, he loves starting with his head down at waist level and then shuffling (commando crawling with a bit of help) up until his head is on a level with your own. But he keeps his head down for this, and I think Physio want him to do more push-up stuff.

Not that I'm worrying. I kinda feel as if Physio feel obliged to tell me something, just to justify seeing him. So they have to come up with a suggestion of something for us to do.

I like the look of that place...but maybe that is because it is 'new' and you can't see how grotty an artists impression is ;)

Tigs, don't suppose you have any mat type thing you can put on the bed? I don't think how hard or soft a surface is matters though? Dunno.

IME this is true! We saw different physios and, even when there was clearly no lasting 'damage or injury' to Benjamin's arm & hand they still gave us exercises to do with him.

Just mindful that not everyone was around when Benjamin was born so will summarise for those who want to read:
Benjamin was born with his left hand kind of folded over and bent in towards his arm and he couldn't straighten it. On the day after he was born the paediatrician who was checking him over for our discharge noticed it, started talking about 'injury' and 'damage' and sent him for an x-ray to see if anything was broken (so his first time outside was in an ambulance with daddy - I was in no state to take him - and poor daddy had to hold his 24 hour old baby down on a table and lay a lead mat over him).
They talked a lot about palsy without explaining what it might be (not explaining that it wasn't cerebral palsy like we automatically associate the word with, especially with a hand bent over like that). They also talked about the damage being due to my 'inability to deliver without assistance' because I had forceps - apparently 1 in 500 forceps births result in nerve and muscle damage and can result in permanent disability - nobody ever told me THAT in antenatal!!
Consequently, we had lots of appointments, physios, scans, paediatricians and it turns out that the little blighter just liked to sit with his right hand placed over his left wrist and had spent so much time like that inside me that his body had moulded to that position *rolleyes*

See - he always was a stubborn little b00ger :D

Did I say the other day that I thought I had come to terms with my birth and the events following it? ....maybe not yet :o
