No that doesn't make you a bad person MM. It takes alot to understand autism and if the teacher isn't geared up for these problems or classroom assistant etc it could turn bad. But if the child is in a mainstream school I would assume he only has a slight autism, well thats how it works here.

No - not at all MM. If the teachers can't cope/aren't trained to deal with him it's not fair on him, the staff or the rest of the children. Does he have any extra help in class?, like a TA?

3 I know this is of no help but at my old work we had alot that refused to go on buses but we had to get them on even if it took half an hour or more. Or is it just probs with transport full stop and not so much the fact he won't get on??
    Does he use makaton??

Tbh Scruff I think it's more a transport problem. They've got him onto the bus twice this year :(, both times it was a stand-in bus and stand-in escort as the proper ones were off sick. It was a bit of a struggle according to J's teacher, but nothing major. I think this particular escort just tried harder. And once he was on and in the harness he was ok.
This week, with the different bus, the driver has just flatly refused to take him without even trying.
Yes, he uses a makaton, but only when he really has to! Its getting more frequent now.
One day when his TA was talking to him about going home on the bus, and signing bus & home to him, he gave a big smile and signed back 'mum, red car!'

How rude of me - Happy Birthday. :D Is it 21? ;)

The teacher by all accounts is very good with him and there are 2 classroom assistants in their class who help out alot.
Not sure how severe it is. We do full integration if wanted, the other P3 class has a girl with downs syndrome in with them (whos mum just happens to be Dylans helper at Hydro !!) and there are a few other kids with special needs in the school too.

I am happy that he isnt 'dangerous' as such, think it was the throwing a chair incident that scared me a bit

I still use non bio and lenor sensitive, I didn't know I was allowed to use other stuff :rotfl: OH gets exzema patches on his arms and shoulders, and he seems to have gotten one on his belly recently, not sure what is causing it as I've not changed powders or anything. Bio makes his skin worse, so I've always just bought non bio, whats the difference?

Glad all you ladies had a fun time today, I'm too tired to catch up xxx

    Morning all :)

Weezl - thank you for your tip this afternoon. I used the pokey tool (it is really called that!) and Isla now has one sheepskin boot. I just need 5 mins to sew the other one up :)

Well, boo, my tips come at a price, I now demand to see a piccie of said lovely boots :D

I'm glad you mentioned that as I'd already forgotten!

For Weezl (or anyone else who happens to be interested:...

*whispers* I actually want a lotus birth next time. *runs away*

Thank you, that's all really fascinating, and helpful :)

Re: lotus birth (I had to google it :o) wow! amazing! I was trying to remember how long fergie's cord stayed on and with us it was 7-8 days IIRC. I guess a lot of it for me would be about how many friends/family would be expecting to meet/play with him/join in with stuff like nappy changes/baths etc.... and how it'd be to do with how weird they found it that they were cuddling a baby plus placenta, IYSWIM?

Plus (I feel a bit materialistic for thinking this-selfish mummy :o) I also had a pang of 'oh I can't get him dressed and pop out to Ikea for a family trip with Fergus' (and get those endless being stopped and asked about him by women in their 50s that you get when you take a newborn out with you- and you feel like a minor celebrity for a few weeks :D). I can't get my head round how you'd put a newborn and the placenta in a sling/baby carrier. And what clothes would he wear? See I'm just not very practical!:rotfl:

So why am I saying this-just to ask I suppose if you also would feel the loss of those things, or maybe they're not actually out of the question and I hadn't thought of it! :)

Q: When did you move from using non-bio washing powder and sensitive fabric conditioner?

    8 weeks.

(but my mum still thinks we only use non-bio on the baby stuff:shhh:)
