I have officially been 'smoke free' for a year. Well, a year yesterday really. This time 1 year and 1 day ago I was stood on the patio with preg test in one hand, cigarette in the other and the biggest grin on my face you could ever see.

And it seems like yesterday.

Anyway, just wanted to share in my proud moment (yes, another one). Will be ringing life insurance people on Monday to demand substantial discount.

I've not celebrated it for a while because i've been a single dad, but this year I shall. Not sure what to do though, as it's like Valentines Day every day at the moment, with it being a new relationship.

I agree that it's a commercial exercise, but i've always gone with whatever the female wants, but I like to be romantic all year round.

Random question (and one that's been asked before but I'm going to say it again ).. how many weetabix do babies here eat? Rhys had (a whole) one this morning for the first time, mixed with pear mush, and it wasn't as much porridge as he normally has :eek: At least I'll be better with portion control with Weetabix - none of this more porridge, more milk, more porridge, more milk faff!

I made far too much porridge yesterday and I wouldn't let him have it all - he wasn't impressed!

I'm struggle with portion control, I just don't know how much he should be having! It says that he will let you know when he's full but so far he has just sat there with his mouth open waiting for the next spoonful!

LOL - the bigger they get the harder it is to believe that they were ever little and helpless. But the sweeter it gets when they really need you for a cuddle

Well done Harley. I have been smoke free for nearly 2 years now and I am honestly at a point where I don't think I will ever go back. It is a terribly hard thing to do (although prob easier when pregnant) and an even harder thing to keep up (although prob harder for those who gave up because they were pregnant).

Congratulations sweetie :T may we stay smoke free from now on xxx

what do you lovely cuisine-experts do with a silverside!?
it is scaring me defrosting in the kitchen cos its just soo huge!!!!!! im so wick at this cooking malarkey if its not chicken!!!! *insert rolly eyes smiley*

I like to get a card on V-day, I feel hard done by if I dont! But we dont bother with anything else.

Baby shoes, I am not good at I have always worried that Seth should always have well fitting shoes that he likes, cos when I was little my mum wouldnt let me have nice shoes, just plain ones that looked like boys shoes cos they were sturdy and would last longer. Well one day my nan bought me some nice shoes and I wore them til my feet were 2 sizes too big for them, and my feet squashed up and never unwravelled!! So I have baby feet/shoe paranoia. I've only ever bought and put on one pair of shoes for Seth, and that was just before xmas I dont really bother putting them on him when we go out unless its the supermarket, cos nobody will see his feet in the cosytoes and he always has socks on and in the supermarket his feet dangle free for all to see!
Can someone please tell me that I havent damaged my son for life by not putting shoes on his feet and making him get used to them from an early age cos now when I put his solitary pair of shoes on he points his feet out and wont straighten them out and it makes it almost impossible!

Personally, I coat it in Horseradish, sprinkle a beef OXO on it and some mixed herbs put it in a really hot oven (Gas mark 9) for about 15minutes then turn it down to Gas Mark 6 and cook it until it's medium rare. I like my beef rare.

I had blue fillet steak on New Years Day - OMG it was fabulous!

We have just moved on to weetabix as I cant be bothered with the porridge faff in the morning either! I gave Leila about 3 quarters of a weetabix this morning and she probably ate just over half of it. She's eats little and often though (unlike her mummy who eats lots and often!), so she had 8 organix carrots sticks about an 1 1/2 later. I tried her weetabix and it was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted, but I smiled and said yummy yummy just so Leila didnt see what I really thought of it! How often am I going to have to do that in the future I wonder!!

Sorry I've been watching interesting tv about the internet. Now i'm back with a second glass of wine. Izzy keeps crying in her sleep, so not sure how much sleep I will get tonight, so will go get my head down soon.

We haven't gone out on valentines day for years, but we try and use it as an excuse to get takeaway, or cook something special.
