    Morning all,

    Nikkit - congratulations!

KT - can we see a picture of Alex please? You could put it in your avatar!!

Boogelly - welcome back, we wondered where you were (think GISI or someone asked after you the other day). Glad you had a nice time with your parents. They will probably want to visit more often now you have Isla!

SS - are you feeling any better today?

Maz - Yay for a half decent nights sleep!!! :T

Glam - let me know how you get on at Baby Clinic please! Holly is screaming in her sleep every night. It's not been too bad before as she is in our room, and just putting a hand on her or popping her dummy in if she lets me seemed to suffice (although perhaps she would have stopped anyway without me doing anything, I don't know). The past 2 nights have been worse and I have had to lift her and when I put her down again she starts screaming. Last night I ended up taking her into bed with me in the spare room so DH could get some sleep. She is screamy/crying but doesn't wake up so it sounds similar to Jack. I had to put the lights on to wake her at one point and when she opened her eyes, she greets me with a massive smile, so it doesn't seem to be consciously affecting her. I thought it might be teething related as her cheeks are red hot when I pick her up, but I also keep reading about night terrors. I am sure it's really common, but wish I knew what it was. It's horrible to see her so distressed.

i could stay at my mums , BUT she smokes ( not in the house anymore) but you still come away smelling of cigarattes , its awful as soon as we come home from there we all get chnaged , its awful thing to do , but since giving up over 2 years ago , i hate the smell , as it lingers , so i think i would be better off here IYSWIM.
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec

Have you tried a teething powder popped in the mouth when baby wakes up?

Obviously you can only do it once every 3 hours (or whatever) but quite often I find it settles Benjamin straight back.

After a while of good sleeping (once I get him down *rolleyes*) Benjamin woke me at 1.15am and 4.15am last night. I feel beat!

Edit - don't blame you nikkit. I am the same. Nothing worse than a reformed smoker!! Anyone else that you can call on for a night?

    aww (((hugs))) fitz.

when i said to HV that K was waking up, she said he was prob hungry :/ and to give him his food before his last bottle of the day. some nights at 3am he doesnt want the bottle he just wants the comfort.
when i looked online a lot of sites seem to suggest that from approx 6 - 12 months their brains are developing so much that at night they kind of go into an overload as they have so much information to process. this is waht wakes them up and takes a little to settle them. they also said to look at your normal routine at bedtime as even the slightest change can up set them.
i want my little boy back who slept all night :)

I actually gave H teething powders at about 10pm last night just before bed. The packets says morning and night, so I thought giving her it last thing might help if it is teething related. She isn't actually waking up though - her eyes are firmly shut and if I pick her up, she is totally limp and sleeping on my shoulder. As I say, from googling it, it sounds quite common but very strange.

She is totally happy and chatty during the day as usual though. She napped a lot more yesterday, more than ususal and was extra lively when awake so was wondering if it was some kind of growth spurt.
She has been such an angel since she was born that I definitely can't complain about a few broken nights sleep. I know I have had it so easy compared to a lot of you, so I would be foolish not to expect some sleepless nights!

Jillie - missed your post about work. Good luck with it today. It will probably feel strange going in as you are so removed from your job now. But like NMS said, it will probably feel like you haven't been away after about 10 mins! Hope you get the hours/place that suit.

SM - good luck to you too! And I put baked beans in a Shepherds Pie once to pad it out as advised on OS thread. It was actually quite nice. Lasagne - don't think I would! lol. x

After an hour and a half wait - for an appointment they booked "so I wasn't just turning up and wouldn't have to wait"!! - we probably had the best blood test ever (iykwim!). Rhys barely cried, doctor got it right first time and it barely took three minutes :D Home for brekkie, now just having a cuppa and getting stuff together to go to my sister's :)
  • Good luck to those discussing work. It is tough ((HUGS)).

Jillie - I cried every time I called a CM :o even doing something positive was emotionally exhausting (god you lot must think I am a jibbering wreck most of the time!)

I use the nelsons teething powders and they say every 3 hours I think.

I find there is no point giving Benjamin one before he goes to sleep but they settle him if he is grizzling in the night. I guess every baby is different.
