The whole MMR/Autism thing really does my goat in.

I had a shower, Amber is still asleep, Chris is still in just his nappy but seems happy enough and we have no plans to go anywhere today so what the heck.

Mine too. The only areas of the developed world where deaths from measles and mumps are rising are now places like California, where people don't bother to do their own research and rely on Jenny McCarthy to give them soundbytes to spout and sound "informed"

I have reservations about some vaccines for various reasons (mostly the way they're administered; in Germany you get MMRV and chicken pox is included in the mix; I disapprove for a few reasons) and I know that Susan has legitimate concerns about the contents of some vaccines - but we've both researched our opinions and we're not basing our concerns on absent logic and fashionable mummying.

my little man has been asleep since 8:45! after a full night's sleep!

SJ, we put Finn in the other room last week. It helped soooooo much and we all sleep much better. I always thought we'd wait until he outgrew the Moses basket, but I'm so glad we braved the change.

I've concerns about vaccines too, but like you say, you research it yourself, you don't go about collecting a mindless flock. And then to be proven wrong but still claim to be right...

You'll be surprised to hear only half of my children have been vaccinated.. The upper half.. before I looked into what was inthe mixes and the effects of those.

DS3 almost died after the first lot of jabs.. he weighed almost 5lb.. he had a massive reaction and was very ill and endedup in hospital and monitors and drips etc.. he developed an erratic heartbeat, a temp of 41'C which I couldn't get down, He wouldn't feed and just laid whimpering, if we touched him he would scream in pain.. We had the GP out twice who said it was 'within normal ranges of reaction'.. then when I took him to hospital they said if it had been any worse we'd have lost him.

I did the research after that and none of them had any after that... The 2 oldest girls did have the HPV one though.. I have a long family history of cervical cancer at a young age.. so decided any side effects would be countered by saving their lives potentially.

The MMR.. 4 had it and 4 didn't. 2 of the ones that did got measles, 1 of the ones that didn't got measles aged 17 weeks (2 weeks after she had chickenpox while being 100% breastfed..) .. only 1 has had rubella, just before christmas actually.. yet none of the other unvaccinated ones did. This is also grown on an egg based protein which DS3 is allergic to anyway.

All 8 have had chickenpox with no ill effect. I do think unless immuno compromised this is a waste of time vaccinating against, there are rarely complications.

OH and I are now disagreeing over vaccinating the baby.. I say no.. he says yes.. I say research it.. he says it doesn't matter.. we will never agree.. but I will get my own way.. I can be a brat lol

It is mainly the preservatives and bases I disagree with, the long term and side effects of these are pretty horrific.. from digestive disorders and allergies to brain damage and cancers.. you wouldn't eat food with half this stuff in and you certainly wouldn't feed it to a tiny baby!!

Havent caught up at all and have only skim read the page, so am not ignoring people, just being very busy and self centred and taking a few minutes to just SIT with a cuppa :o

Have suddenly developed some sort of cleaning/hoovering addiction, very random. Have gone from hoovering once every couple of days to twice a day? And not quick once overs either, proper pulling furniture out hooverings. Odd.
Guess who has been given a nice 40% discount voucher for Peacocks to be used by next Saturday? :money:
That'll be me off shopping this afternoon then, to buy some new stuff that isnt full of cat claw holes and stock up for the summer!

Vaccinations - I dont know enough about them to make an educated comment on them, really. I havent let Seth have the swine flu one, as he is in otherwise good health and from all the stuff on the news about it all I recall them saying that there wasnt so much of a risk if whoever got it was in otherwise good health, and I wasnt very keen on letting him have a jab that was younger than he was IYSWIM? What I do know is that the other jabs have been going for years and years, and while a few young ones may or may not have developed autism or anything else after having them, many many more will not have suffered any adverse effects at all, and the diseases they immunise against are well worth being immunised against.

Meant to be ringing up to book the wedding today, but keeping finding the number in the phone book and putting down the phone to do something else instead :o

Had a plumber out who gave us a stupid quote.

Plumber 1 said £150-£180 depending on parts.
Plumber 2 said £100 plus about £50 for parts.
Plumber 3 said up to £150 depending on parts.

Bloke this morning said about £400-£450

Craig has taken some floor boards up and found that two thick copper pipes that we thought were part of the central heating system were not joined onto anything! They must have been left in when I had the old hot water tank taken out and a combi boiler put in years ago. He's taken those pipes out and it's created a lot more room in the space behind the toilet, so he's now wondering if he can do it himself.
Here I go again on my own....
