susan, do you have any interesting links to sites about delayed cord cutting and effects it has on a baby breathing? I'd be very interested.

I may have more bookedmarked but had this one open in my browser already - will have a look later. There was a very good one when I was pregnant (which I think is linked from this) but it's disappeared now.

Good news about your nursery Jillie. When do you go back to work?

I hope Beenie is ok too.

Has anyone ever had/heard of Polyps? Nurse said I had one and should make appointment to get it checked by doc and have it removed. I had never heard of it before! Better go and phone docs actuallly whilst I remember.

i have heard on them, but can't put it into words. so i'm no great help am i.

i'm in a similar situation to you though, been told i might have something by the doc, going for further tests, but didn't think to ask questions about it until i got home and then i had a heap of questions.

the delayed cord cutting was pretty much the only thing i had in my birth plan. i can't offer any profound reasoning, other than i just wanted bubs to get as much from the cord as possible.

i'm sure susan will be able to find what you are after.

oh dear, hasn't been a very good few hours has it. i seem to get stuck on thinking of songs to sing and stick to the same few that all blend into one and other.

as for OBEM... i haven't watched it and can't bring myself too. i would watch all these types of shows when i was pregnant (well up until the last month or so) but since going through it myself, i can't watch it. not sure why, whether it's becuase i'm not sure i'll have another or because i am so emotional over the one i had (strange?? me??? noooo??) :D

To be fair, it wasn't that bad, it's just not like her. She wasn't full on crying or anything, just getting narky and restless as she really needed to sleep. Any crying is instantly stopped by the singing and replaced by a big smile! Then it starts again. Managed 20 mins in her Jumperoo to see if it would tire her out. She got tired, but not quite sleepy! Just relieved to have a bit of peace.

I am always torn if she cries in public. I know my singing could instantly silence her and cheer her up for 5 mins to buy me some time, but it's just too embarrassing!

Can't wait to see the horrible husband everyone is talking about on OBEM.

To rephrase, one baby who required resus, DS1. DS2's placenta was already fully detached when they opened me up and Amber wailed before her cord was cut (I could see it dangling down when she was lifted up for me to see).

I've had a few polyps after Charlie was born - they are basically skin tags. They can be cut off, frozen/burnt off like moles would be. However I had some internal and some external from where I tore during labour didn't heal very well so I had an operation to remove them all and re-stitch. My polyps were slightly painful as they would catch but so much better once I'd got rid of them! Mine used to bleed as well

Thanks for that. Since it was noticed during my smear, I think it might be to do with the tearing during labour too. She said it was bleeding. Made appt for docs for 2 weeks time so will get it checked then.

My brother phoned and now H is awake again!! Naps don't last long in this house. Ah well, she is chatting away so better go and get her.
