Jillie - did you puree the carrot? Jack loves it with Sweet Potato!

Following the success of the toast this morning he is about to have mashed banana. We'll see!

Oh and the cheapie gripper bottles that I bought yesterday - the teats are fab! Fast flow and don't get cloged up with his Comfort milk like the TT ones do.

    A whole £1 for 2 teats!

cooked the carrots till they were soft and blended them, not to a proper puree but a bit 'grainy'. HV said yesterday that as he's nearly 6 months to make it thicker. he's having it again tonight as the cupboards are bare although i do have a jar i got free of squah and beef pie i might try a bit of that. HV also said that , as he's waking up in the night for a bottle to give him his food later and it should keep him going over night. now i dont know if the small bit he ate yesyerday worked or not but he slept til 5am rather than 1 and 2 am previously.

know the gripper bottles look strange but apparently are fab for getting them to drink themselves :D. going to get K used to eating and then will inroduce the weaning spout.

I was naughty today and bought that cute zebra tshirt for amber, and the print one, and a skirt and some tops, and then into primark for tights and a £1 pair of jeans so I could say there was a sale on.... Then my dad took her back into next and bought her the twin pack of summer dresses and a cute little dress and leggins outfit too.

Oooh, I am quite enjoying listening to all the food talk. I pureed some parsnips and butternut squash last night so have added them to my freezer stash of sweet potato, carrot and apple. Still not started yet, but might go for it with some baby rice at the weekend just to give her a taste. She is still sleeping through, so just a bit nervous about spoiling it by upsetting her usual pattern. I have been buying the odd thing at the supermarket too whenever I am there so I have a few things in - got a couple of boxes of C&G porridge, and a few of the Ella's Kitchen things. Very interesting combinations of flavours!

Only downside was that I put my Annabel Karmel food trays in the dishwasher, but apparently they are not dishwasher safe. Whoops! They are now all bendy and the lids don't fit. Never mind, just using foil before popping them into freezer bags now.

OH is a salt addict! He says he will salt his food in the kitchen where H can't see him. I add salt to cooking but very rarely once it's cooked. I suppose it's just about being sensible like everything isn't it?!

We've had our lunch now so going to wake H, give her a bottle and then go swimming.

Is it a Heinz jar? Jack's had that one! It's nice.

Jack as water in a free flowing cup - YES WATER!!! For some reason he'll drink it now! *shrugs*

He can hold teh gripper bottle, it's getting him to tip it into his mouth and hold it up thats the problem.

Must go! I need to tidy up, clean the bathroom, wash the windows, put the bins out and nip to ASDA!

Fitz, I salt the water for vegetables when cooking otherwise they taste a bit metallicy. Not a lot, but it does need it. I don't salt stews and soups, but plain veg, yeah.

Amber is pretty much getting what we have now. Yesterday she had some of my haddock (in breadcrumbs), a chip, some lettuce, a but of red onion and some of DS2's burger bun when we were out. This morning she had some of my fruit scone, some of papas scrambled egg and zing-zing chicken (only because it was from chicken breasts cooked in the shop and not the pre-cooked ready to eat chicken), bit spicy for her, was funny to watch her eating it though. Kinda 'mmmm.... oh mouth is burny! waaa! milk, oh whats this? eat eat nummmmm burny again! milk eat eat screamy when mum takes it away from me, get it back, eat eat burny!!!'

You'd be fine with the gravy/stock cube Glam. I doubt he'd manage an adults portion lol.

only time Ive ever heard of baby dying from too much salt was a Scottish family giving it mince and tatties every night for it's supper, and they probably poured half a tub of salt in at a time (like my mutter)

I didn't even bother phoning the doctor this morning :rotfl: Her temperature dissapeared during the night and she is fine now, wee bit snotty but was only the temp I was worried about. BUT NOW I AM SICK! I can't stop sneezing and my eyes feel gooey, I better not be getting conjunctivitus.

So annoyed at that cat, he is more annoying than ever, he just ate the buds growing out of Keiras cherry tomatoe plant. EVILS!

    hi everyone,

i have been so terrible in keeping up with what is happening on the thread or posting.

my nights seems to be getting LO to sleep (which is okay now -- but not after 12am as we still have frequent wakings after then), watching a bit of telly, bath, farming (hehe), lurking on here and now my DS has come to light again (haven't used it since i was pregnant). hooked on Super Mario again and i am rubbish LOL.

not looking for medical advice, but anyone had any experience of fibrocystic breast disease??

i see tara's daughter and poppie are finally in a decent hopsital, which is great to see.

hope everyone is doing well and i am about, lurking, just not posting as much as i should

    xx

Af - Don't mention Super Mario!! It's a sore point in our house because Keira likes to play it on the DS and she is pretty good at it too, but when she can't do a level she INSISTS I do it, and I'm like MEEEEH I DONT WANT TOO (even though I am pretty good at the game) and then she goes off on one about me being bad because Im not saving the Princess.....

She has completed all the Dora/Diego games, within 45minutes she did it, I'm so glad I have an R4 card and didn't pay £20 a pop for those rubbish games!

Hi Beenie, how are you feeling today?

Waiting for an electrician to come and change the light fitting in my bathroom... And the window fitters boss to come and check the standard of the work... I'm really pleased with the windows and the door... But at the bottom of the door there's a plastic strip that's been sealed to the floor... Thing is, he's sealed it to the dodgy unfinished laminate floor... And one piece is out of place (a gap of about 1cm between that and the rest of the floor) and it's now sealed out of place for good... If he'd have asked, I would have told him to pull the laminate up and seal it to the floor underneath, it's going to end up going anyway but I don't know how we can pull it up now?

Change your signature Tia... It's obviously ineffective :p
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hi af, no experience sorry, but hope the sleep issues get sorted out soon.

Glam, I've always used an oxo cube in spaggy bol and red wine (lots and lots of it) and then fed it to babies. Ds2 loved spaggy bol and so far seems fine. Well a bit mental but hey ho, doubt it was salt that caused that.

Krystal your a big mean old poopoo head :p She needed them.
