Tara Helloooooo - how is the gorgeous Poppie this evening, in her new hospital?

MM Your son is a star! :T Your post gave me goosebumps.

Do you reacon there is some kind of instinct that makes babies wake up when Mum is about to eat?
Yes, all three of mine have done it and i'm now an expert at eating one handed. :rotfl:

SusanC and Sugarspun thank you for your feedback, it can get so confusing with these adverts, and yes they definately go for the heartstrings of mummies!

LO loves her food and is given a good variety, and packs away her 5 a day. The only thing she has that is packaged I guess are the toddler meals, and when Grandma has her she gives her chocolate! I think once this follow on milk has gone.. whole milk will be the way forward, save me a bit too!

Familygirl I think there was a programme on a few weeks ago about baby food, and it said that the C&G advert where the baby needs a huge cup of moo milk to get enough iron was misleading. The baby would only need that much moo milk if he was having nothing else. My lo is 12 months and 2 weeks (ish) and has been on only moo milk since her birthday. She has a brilliant balanced diet (except when she's with Nana!) and i'm not worried about her iron intake.
When my big two were little (12 & 9 years ago) I don't think follow on milk was invented, and they're both ok. :p

We went shopping with MIL today, and spent 2hrs 20min in the 'big' Primark!

How far is the hospital from DD's house and your house? Close enough for DD to get a good night's sleep (expressing aside) and cook a good meal? I was thinking, does DD have one of those hot food flasks? She could make herself something then take it in and eat it at the hospital so she gets something hot and tasty for dinner and can stay all day still :)
  • Thanks 3 :)

We sometimes give Alice water from syringe when she asks for medicine and we don't think she needs it. Not sure the placebo effect works with babies though. I guess the thing to do is to only use it if you really think it's needed rather than "just in case" or for the psychological effect.

When mine have asked for 'medicine' and they've not needed it I gave them neat lemon juice on a medicine spoon... They NEVER asked again!!!

You do Tara, they're yummy ;) dont eat the whole bag in an afternoon though, I only stopped feeling sick when I had dinner :o

I dont actually care if the milk is vanilla flavoured, I've got a stash of boxes of milk that cost me £4 each, works out way cheaper than cows milk and therefore it will be fed in this house until the price swings in cows milk favour!
