I just weighed Keira and she is 14.9kg  What is that in stones? She was just slightly over 16kg last time I weighed her!0

Susa, that's a really interesting article. Is there an alternative to Calpol or similar*? This is where not being British comes into play, as I don't know anything about children's products/medicines. Personally, I only take paracetamol if I'm pretty bad pain (as opposed to minor niggles) so perhaps that's a good policy to translate to my children.
* or maybe we should just go back to the "old ways" of letting fevers run their course, provided they aren't the dangerous sort? Hmm...top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Yeah I don't like the sound of this calpol induced asthma either! I can't recall giving Keira calpol under the age of 1, perhaps once or twice? Can't really remember tbh!
Is it only calpol though? I'm using some Tesco stuff which is essentially the same, without the name (got it free, sign up to the NHS minor ailment, bonza!)0 -

I think the point was about the paracetamol component (plus the sugar & E numbers!).top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

There is the option of alternative medicines such as homeopathy etc.. they are 'old ways' of dealing with illnesses!! And the paths through which modern medicines were discovered.. in fact many 'new' medicines are the 'old' medicines rather more refined and sometimes chemically manufactured
IIRC it is belladonna for high temps, pulsatilla for snots and grots.. My homeopath friend would be more than happy to help if you need her details..

Is the silvercross 3d any good? Theres one going cheap near me that has been relisted a few times.
Is it parent facing?0 -
Do you think the parents who use Calpol at the first sign of a sniffle are also more likely to obsessively disinfect and do other stuff associated with interfering with immune development/asthma/allergies? Or that sickly children get more Calpol?
I wonder.
Edit: BM, homeopaths believe that water retains a memory of elements that are placed in it even when they're distilled out so that there's 1 drop of (say) belladonna for every 1000 drops of water. So you take ten drops of 0.001% belladonna and it's supposed to help without being poisonous.
Incidentally, belladonna is from the same plant family as potatoes. </nerd>Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
