This is a most terrible blow to everybody concerned and sadly it has been confirmed.i was sure this company was sufficiently big enough and carrying a viable enough reputation to be sheilded by this reccessuion caused by the present goverment.I took on a course for 2 years and am half way through paying on a none secured barcleys loan and now i am devistated.i have not only lost my hope and means of a new career, but have been saddled with a huge debt....i can only empathise with those who are in the same proverbial boat, but these things happen, and sadly it is a fact of life that we are in unpresidented difficult and unprodictable economic times. It was a risk and sadly the risk has turned into a nightmare....good luck everyone...bad news carries quickly,as there was nothing on here 3 hours ago....in the pooo man...

i started a course with these...

salesman promised letters after my name, job with starting salary of 30k... said id be able to do the msce course...

i struggled, couldnt really manage the course... havent done much with it, recieved 2 'advent' books printed on printer paper, transcender cd, and 2 days at a workshop. they wouldnt even let me sit the exam for the comptia a+... they said i wasnt gettng high enough grades on the practice tests even though i did get over the pass mark.

got a career dev loan through barclays not even sure how much, remember the salesman telling me to get an extra 800 quid and saying it was for a laptop but i had to pay it to them.

    wonder what will happen now...
    i havent started repaying yet.

also did anyone else struggling notice that once you realise you are struggling and its obvious to advent you are - ie no progression on the course they make no effort to help you.
in a way im glad theyve gone bust, bunch of cowboys.

they have the fancy HQ, the sales patter, but as a training provider they are terrible.
  • Really annoyed about this, i enrolled on the 7th of jan, payed a £195 deposit (not to barcalys but to there student finance) and got the it basics first module sent out, along with my documents, ( aggreement, t and c etc) but i DID NOT sign or neither have i returned these forms. i have also canceled my direct debit as they had no debited my account yet, only took my deposit.

Does this mean because i did NOT sign the agreement and return it that i shouldnt worry? (apart from my deposit)

I feel really sorry for all those who have payed thousands.

    I still cant belive it.
  • Well I'm three years into the course, I've paid in total about £1500 off of the £5000 CDL. I haven't progressed much further then the first tester exam as personal bereavement effected my willingness to continue for much of the last 18 months.

Having heard this, it isn't really a suprise. They offer the world but once you hand over the cash they don't care about the student, or the circumstances. I've never missed a payment or complained about the fact that I was offered no support from my apparent non existent mentor.

I can't see any of us getting our money back, it's just a bad move in life that we'll just have to learn from (ironic really when it was supposed to be us learning from them!) I don't expect the IP's to do much else then try to balence the books for them having read this.
    Our IPs are able to:
    • advise on, and undertake appointments in, all formal insolvency procedures – both personal (bankruptcies, sequestrations, individual voluntary arrangements and trust deeds) and companies and partnerships (liquidations, company and partnership voluntary arrangements, administrations and administrative receiverships);
    • advise on, and act in, informal re-scheduling of debts, reconstructions and reorganisations for individuals and businesses facing financial difficulties.

I found out last night about this, I signed up in september and just ready for my first exam, waiting for the code to book it and I hear this! I am devastated, I have a barclays finance deal of over £5000 that I have to start paying in august, its disgusting as I am essentially paying for NOTHING.
I am shattered, I cannot afford this, I am 21 years old living with my parents, with a job that I got on the condition that I complete the advent course. I don't know what to do, I could loose my job, I'm thousands out and only 21! This can't be happening- my credit life can't be ruined before I've even had a chance to take advantage of it!! Bye bye to my deposit for a flat :'(

ANY help and advice - PLEASE

Pray, hopefully the people contacting us all will adjudge the stage people are at and refund accordingly but then again, that's just me hoping for this outcome.

It's just a waiting game for the time being.
  • I am truly devastated!! I took out this on the base of a promise said with my IT knowledge I would wrap this MCSE course up in around 10 monthes. I got a loan from 1 of there suggested providers (get money now pay nothing for 12 monthes no APR for 12 monthes) didnt realise the small print (after 12 monthes APR 39.9%) Would borrow 5000 pay back 9300. Managed to borrow 5000 off a family member had 12 monthes to pay it back. Only got 1 MCP so far and now looks like all the stress of paying that 5K has gone to waste.

Anyone know of any really high bridges with no safety barriers my life is ruined :(
