    Seriously? You have $900 netbooks?

    The iPad starts at $499.
Link broken, but regardless, it was you who made the comparison with laptops and notebooks. I said 'computing device'.

My apologies, did you have something different in mind?
Oh right, but it can charge a much higher price? I'm sure the "beautiful design" justifies that :rotfl:

Adding a touch screen, LED back-lit display, 10 hour + battery, solid state storage, and 802.11n wifi increases the price of any device.

Adding the just the display, battery and wifi to a Dell netbook increases the price by $135.

Every comment I've made relates to the £899 model as it is the only one of remote interest. The others have far too little storage.

802.11n is pretty close to standard these days. Solid state storage and 10-hour battery life isn't remarkable either. But that's pretty much irrelevant. An SD card slot is pennies in production costs. Cost is not the reason Apple don't include them.

Did you fix your link? I'd like to see this Dell laptop.

Well, in that case, you can add GPS and mobile internet to the list of things a $900 computing device should apparently have.

Maybe for your tastes. If it's going to be used for browsing the web, checking emails, and watching the odd movie, it's not so bad.

If I purchased one, it wouldn't replace a desktop or laptop, so I could live with 16 GB.

If they're optional extras, I would have to disagree.

The link works just fine for me. It's an Alienware Aurora Desktop, starting at $1,199.

  • iPad is a complete fail imo. It's nothing more than an oversized iPod touch and that bezel ouch! Give me a £175 Dell netbook running Windows/Linux/OSX over this everyday of the week.

    Dealbreakers:

    Mahoosive bezel.
    OS - It's just a large iPod.
    No flash support - !!!!!!
    The aspect ratio is 4:3.
Lack of Inputs/Outputs - USB etc...
    No multi tasking *sigh*

No doubt some of the mac fanboys will defend it to the end and claim some of the above dealbreakers are features rofl.

As has been pointed out, the large bezel is so that you can hold it without touching the screen.

If you will insist on viewing it as a fully featured computer, of course you're going to be disappointed with it.

Oh c'mon of course you don't want to be touching the screen while holding it but it's just plain silly trying to justify the bezel being that large.

I assume they tried different sizes and decided that was the best.

Or maybe they just pulled numbers out of a hat.

    Who knows?

Have you seen his avatar? It is pointless discussing anything like this sensibly with him.

Agree, the same mechanism used to decide the selling prices for their products.

Besides! I thought touching the screen was a feature.
