you found it KEEP it i think a few would. we have to let our halos slip now and again
That is terrible advice.
If indeed the OP is genuine, then to keep the money would probably be the stupidest things they'd done in a long time.
It is theft.
You will be on camera.
The bank will report this to the police.
They will press charges.
Do not be in any doubt about any of the above. Banks are not stupid or flippant with money.
If you are caught and charged with theft, it will follow you around on your criminal record for life and with all the jobs that now require CRB checks, it will follow you around to places where you wouldn't want others to see.
Hand the money back to the bank.
And make sure you get some sort of receipt for it!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

If you find £20 in the street there is no way of tracing/proving the owner.
This money is easy to trace the owner of. The bank can do this in 30 seconds.
If you saw someone drop £20 on the street would you keep it or would you run after them and give it back?
Most people would give the money back - perhaps you should be on Shameless basil...0 -
According the the bank, these sort of things don't happen!!!!
I tried to take £90 from a cashpoint and the cash drawer never opened but the bank insisted it had given me my cash and I never got it back. The machine was not up or down so that was an end to it for them.
Perhaps this is what happened to you...the cashdrawer opened after the person had walked away.0 -
well that more or less happened to me i withdrew 80 and was counting it but there was only 70 when i went into bank they said 80 was with drew out of bank and it said 80 on slip but i never got 80 so how can they prove it fair enough they can look and see he with drew the money and look on camera and see some one appoach the cash point but how can you prove that person took the money0

This has happened to me twice, the first time I went to a cashpoint and there was the cash and a withdrawal slip sticking out, I handed it in to the bank (it was a branch cashpoint), they took my details so the owner could thank me if they wanted to.
The second time I went to a machine and it was bleeping like mad asking if another service was required, the card was still in the machine. I said no and the card was ejected, this was at a supermarket so I handed the card in and again they took my details so the owner could thank me.
On both occasions nobody contacted me to thank me, I didn't do it to be thanked but I know I would have thanked anyone that did that for me, weird.Don't wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.0 -
I would have kept it. And unlike some, im honest.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.
