  • Coffee-break, a Mr T day is shopping at one of the major supermarkets eg. Mr T (He makes me offers I can't refuse), Mr S (a bit of posh that I can't afford), Mr A (Bog standard but hey you know what you're getting) and occasionally I go to Mr M's (Just for a quickie on the way home) and then if you're silly enough to pay the price and feel the pinch there's even Mr M&S. But I don't do pain.

    :rotfl: I get it now.

Given the choice i'd rather shop at Mr T or Mr M, but my nearest is Mr S. But it's rubbish as it's both pricey and not very well stocked, but i often end up their because it's convenient :o. I really should make an effort to go round to Mr T's more often

Sounds good to me BigMummaF . As well as a badge, maybe we can have an adapted one which is like a rat-trap, so it snaps yer fingers everytime you put your hand in your purse :D. My fingers will stumps within a week

:rotfl:For some reason this made me think of a day full of dressing up/acting like Mr T. That should exist, it'd brighten up my day for definite!

I think Mr T is code for that massive chain of supermarkets beginning with T. I could be wrong though, it takes me a while to catch on to some of the abbreviations on here!

Yesterday was a NSD for me and so far so good for today. As long as I can resist popping into the shop on the way home today should be my 3rd NSD so far. Fingers crossed!

Apparently some people have been banned by a store for shopping in their jim-jams . Your right, surely dressing like Mr T would make shopping more fun :D.

Today's gonna be an NSD, I've had my lunch break and bought nothing off the allowed (or not allowed) list. Makes that 5 for me.

  • Hi everyone, had big spend day today!!

Went shopping with my mum and ordered and paid for new carpet for lounge and bought some new cushions as well!! Does look nice though, can't wait for carpet to be fitted, but hubby and workers can - told them they can have a day off farming and have a day in the warmth, emptying the lounge furniture - and lifting carpet and fixing floorboards before the new carpet goes down!! (i knew there was benefits about working with a load of guys!!! lol).

Will be back on track tomorrow with a hopeful NSD.!
Loving life to the full, just need purse full too :)

Yesterday was NSD #5 for the challenge (and #4 as a total NSD for everything)

But after a lot of thought (and with a little insight as to what was likely to be around for final reductions tonight), I nipped to Mr M and ruined what would otherwise have been another total NSD today!

But with £18.68 original priced groceries for a mere £3.76 (before my staff discount), I'm not going to kick myself too hard for it ;) Still plenty of the month left to manage another 6 days without grocery shoppping rolleyes2.gif

At last ... number 6 for me today!

I have also clarified my own NSD rules on my DFW Diaries - basically as I was in danger of spending MORE money or becoming a MEAN person by trying to keep to NSD's than otherwise, and it wasn't helping me make extra payments etc. as I was confusing myself as to whether that was 'allowed'.

However, as you guys have so kindly clarified, it's each to their own, so here's a precis of MY rules for me:

What's permissable and doesn't count as a 'spend' in terms of NSD's
    - One family grocery shop per calendar week in ONE store
    - Any whoopsied food outside of this that is less than 5p per item
    - Any ebay postage and packaging as long as covered by sales cost
    - One work petrol fill-up per week. If petrol is used for social activity in addition, then spend must be declared.
    - Any overpayment / payment towards a DFW debt listed on DFW diary
    - Any prescription costs
    - Any payment of dental costs (that can be reclaimed)
    - Any ONE charitable contribution to a recognised charity (i.e. Haiti appeal, Save the Children) per week MAXIMUM

    EVERYTHING else counts.

Do you think I've been too generous? I know some people count everything, and I've tried this, but have ended up quite demotivated by it, and ended up lying to the window cleaner to make him come back on a known spend day instead of paying him there and then.

The above are costs that I can't get away from in terms of making more money or day-day living, but I've stripped it back to the bare bones.

    Welcome your thoughts xx
