crikey girls - it all seems very technical this TTC! I was planning on just BDing every other day around mid cycle and seeing what happens..... Do I need to monitor my temp and other things?

And.... are they any really good pregnancy books out there, when it does happen I want the best "what's happening to me and the baby right now" book!!!
BDing every other day around mid cycle is just fine. Speaking for myself - I'm a little obsessed now :o But I only chart my temperature from day 8 till I'm certain I've ov'd, mainly so we don't miss out and also because I like to know when to expect AF.

As for books, I wouldn't have a clue given this is my first baby I hope to have. Maybe you could ask on the Parents thread as they are the ones who have given birth and would probably know best. Or you could try the pregnancy thread.
Go you with your reverse cowgirl :j I'm ashamed to say I'm far too lazy to be doing that position. We have our one position that works well for us, requires minimal effort for me so I'm happy :rotfl:
:o Sammy, I have to be in control at the moment. We've tried him on top, but I tense up. Hopefully one day soon we can try it again.
also i heard you should wait a couple of cycles after coming off pill to get your body back to normal so it could help to avoid the most fertile times as well.
@pebblespop - I did loads of research about this and asked different doctors about it. The consensus was that you can get PG first month off the pill, but it just makes it more difficult to work out dates as you won't be sure how long your cycles are. I read about increased risk in miscarriage and stuff, but my doctor said I shouldn't even be worrying about things like that and that all my worrying does more harm than just getting on with it! So we ended up trying straight away. Of course the advantage of coming off the pill sooner than planned is if you don't get your period right away, you've got some time on your side for your body to settle down.

  • Books don't buy Gina Ford. The baby has never read the right book. They give you a book "birth to five" which does the job fine.

Debski I am really interested in biology anyway so I like to see what my body is up to; OH was absolutely adamant that we weren't going to get into the science of it. But I want this so much that I can't just relax and forget about ovulating, so I am monitoring it. If you can do the 'seeing what happens' then good for you, it's the most stable way to be I think... I am just a little desperate.

If I get pg this month, the due date will be 4 days after my DS. Is this too much of a risk (really don't want them to have to share birthdays...)

My sister and I are (three years and) 4 days apart, although she was due two days after my birthday  bit close for comfort. It's been ok, except for having to share birthday parties and halving our invite list.

I was ten days overdue with DS and if that was repeated it would push it into March.

    What do you think?

I would think you can't think like that. We've been trying 12 months now and if we had stopped a month here and there for various reasons, we could be trying for ever.

Be honest, does it really matter?

My MIL said to me once "you'd better not get PG this month - can't have it being born around *insert grandsons name here* birthday". Really got my goat that one did, especially as we'd been trying 10 months by then.

Anyway, what i'm saying is don't try and second guess everything. We're all lucky if we get one at all, never mind when.

    I agree with SK ^^^^^

There's no point planning around this, that and the other. Babies can come early and late, often not on their due date. So just enjoy the ttc and when it happens it happens :)

Hi SK. how are you? What's happening with the tests? x

@waterbaby - I've got to agree with Sexkitten on this one. I would be over the moon to have a baby born on any day of the year.

If sharing a birthday bothers you, then if it did happen could you not make the effort to give them their own birthday parties with the 'normal' number of invites. If its the same birthday, you could have the parties at the weekends either side. It doesn't cost anymore than if their birthdays are 6 months apart, you just have to save over the year, so it doesn't hurt the pocket in one go.

Hi sexki11en, I see your point, if things do not go according to plan in the near future then I'll look back and wonder if this would have been the month. 12 months of trying must be so frustrating... I really hope it happens soon for you.
