Hiya
Well, I'm 30 now and finally trying to sort myself out seriously. I've had a try before, but always got myself in more of a mess than before!
My problems started when I went to uni. I funded myself through it, resulting in student debt of 6k. This I finished paying last year
Then I went back to uni after finishing to study as a nurse. Again, being in college full time, I also worked every evening, and weekend. However, that still didn't fund me completely, so I ended up using credit cards. Not massively, but enough.
I qualified and moved 200 miles from home 6 1/2years ago. Of course, I needed a car to do the trip and to get back and forth to work. My uncle bought this for me, and I had to pay him back. A3years passed and I was still not in the position to pay him back, and it was weighing on me so I got a loan of 3k to pay him. (this one I finish paying in April)
I did start sharing this house, which was fine and I managed. However, the housemate moved out leaving me with the cost of everything. At that point I was not on the wage I am now, and i ended up spending a lot on the CCs to keep up with the costs.
It has gone on from there really,I have been poorly a lot as I have depressing, which when it strikes is crippling and I can't work. This has happened twice in the past 5 years and last year I was off for 5 months this time with headaches which wouldn't go away. Turns out it could be intercranial pressure.
Anyway, I was saving last year and had managed to save £800 which I was going to put toward a lump sum on my cards. However my baby sis moved up here and she had nothing so I ended up paying for her rent and for other things which got rid of my savings.
I have also spent a lot in the past helping my parents out financially as they have never had any money as such and only had the bare minimum.
So, that's me, thats how I am where I am. But I am now facing up to things and will see how it goes.

I've fallen at the first hurdle

I wanted a new bank account so I can then try and pay off the od at barclays. I applied online for the co-op one and got turned down.
So frustrated now and upset.
I really want out of this debt and thought this was going to be the first step. Back to the drawing board now!Long Haul number 207 :j

OK, so I thought s*d it and gave them a call just on the off chance they were still working (co-op) and they were. Turns out I applied for the wrong account and it was the cash minder I should have done. So that has been applied for now, and I should get a decision in a few days. Fingers crossed :-D xLong Haul number 207 :j

Don't worry too much about the co-op; they seem to turn everyone down including me and a fair few other people on this site. I'm sure it's not personal. Any one of the other banks would probably open an account for you with no problem at all.
Best of luck with it all.

An expensive day for me today. 3 prescriptions for the princely sum of £21.60!! Prescription charges make me so !!!!
Anyway, hoping tomorrow can be a NSD.
I am off work sick again at the moment as my headaches have flared up again, so I shouldn't need food or anything so we shall see.Long Haul number 207 :j
