I’ve been for NYE, it was extremely cold and unpleasant, NYC is great in the spring/ autumn.

Thank you, we're tied to School holidays and I really want to ice skate in New York, so that leaves us with October or Feb half term I guess October will be better than Feb?
But we are thinking of going to a different place each New Year so this would tick two things off at once, but will do some more research.

Well it will be an experience if we get there... my friends used to live in Long Island and they mentioned a number of times of how cold it is. I'll factor in the cost of thermals and warm coats.

It’s extremely cold, they don’t make a difference.
    May half term would great.

    Plus £78 Topcashback :)

I have just got a quote from BA who have a sale on, 5 nights at the Roosevelt hotel flighing from Newcastle/Heathrow/JFK £627 each and they have sent me an e-mail giving me another £100 off the total,if i can sort out insurance we will book it and go.:)

I'm finally off to NY at the end of March having booked almost a year ago through the British Airways site for flights & 4 nights in Manhattan (40th St/8th Av) for £1200 for 2 people.

My loose itinerary so far is:

Mar 27 arrive 2120 and take Airport Shuttle to Manhatten (already booked for $42 (£32). I did intend to take the train but my wife is funny about not knowing where we're going, especially late at night so this seemed like a good option.

Mar 28 Rockafella Tower to see the skyline

Mar 29 Take a round boat trip taking in the Statue of Liberty etc

    Mar 30 Central Park

Mar 31 Ground Zero Memorial then flight @ 2200.

Like I say, this is just my very loose initial plan as I don't want to pack too much in. Can anybody suggest anything else that might fit in with this please?

ground zero and boat can be easily done same day . rockafella & central park can be done same day also . both different directions from your hotel central park is walkable for an average person . enjoy times square / grab a show or visit Brooklyn . there have been a few detailed full days things to do on here in the past . enjoy NYC .

After a bit of help from the forum regulars,we are looking at returning to NY in March,we stayed at the Roosevelt hotel last time and it was fine, have looked for this year and as well as bad reviews on TA , things like bed bugs etc they are quoting $35 a night resort fees on top of the price.
We are looking at alternative hotels and like the look of -:

    a) The Crowne Plaza HY36 ( free night included )
    b) The Crowne Plaza Times Sq. ( Destination fees included )

have looked on TA but cannot find if these hotels charge additional resort fees although the second hotel mentions Destionation fees included whatever they are.
If anybody can help it will be much appreciated.

Also if anyone is reading this thread, when we went last time i am sure we purchased ONE ticket for the subway, put some credit on it and when we went to a station my wife swiped it at the turnstile and then passed it back to me to use,is this still doable?
