  • Everywhere in NY is "local" for food - if you want to research a few areas and browse some menus beforehand checkout menupages.com - else just wonder and stroll on in to whether catches your eye.

Hi all... I went to my six months ago and fell in love with the place... Now looking to go again with my boyfriend. Can anyone suggest what sort of budget Id need for a long weekend, for two people? Don't really mind so much where we stay, as long as it's not a hostel type place. I'm thinking maybe august or September again, although Id consider anytime past may (need to do some saving first!) - four days I think, flying from Birmingham preferably, but I could travel if it was cheap enough! How much would you suggest I save for flights and hotel? Obviously spending money is seperate, but last time flights and hotel cost about a grand each, although I did it in style!

    £1000

    Should do it, plus spend.

If you go at the right time flights for £250/300 each. The rest for your hotel.

Yeah? I wasn't expecting such a fast answer! That would be manageable... I could save that in six months. Then look at first week of September maybe? Which coincidentally is the week of my birthday! Thanks :) daydreaming about that will make the rest of my boring day at work go a bit quicker!!

Was the chap sitting at the end of the channels at the exit to international arrivals? if so they arent customs they are BAA "security" as far as arresting you for taking pics its just further highlights your ignorance.

One other quick point to be made though, and this is a question I often get asked when seizing cigs/counterfeit etc "why are'nt you stopping !!!!!s or drug smugglers" the simple answer is I have to deal with what I find so if I find something low risk ie cigs/cfeit goods then I have to waste my time dealing with them and therefore I dont have time to deal with items I would rather be seizing.

Im not going to get into a whole debate about customs as I appreciate the fact that most people dont like us but I know I earn my money on a day to day basis and if it wasnt for people trying to protect the border there would be even more stuff on the street that no right minded person wants.

We went to NY the last week in august and as Mark has said its hot which for a non-heat lover was occasionaly uncomfortable, however drink loads wear t-shirt and shorts and you'll be fine. The only place I found crazy hot was the subways.

my thought was THE FIRST HOTEL UNDER #100 I WILL INVESTIGATE MORE.
as expected first pages were under wheelybins with the rats . then this one came up ranked #66

    http://www.chelsealodge.com/

Any idea on hotel and whats your thoughts
dont know the area at all . Best i know is flatiron district which is local and we enjoyed good food ,music, comedy clubs and speakeasys
Less than $99 atm and the offer has been before too .

    views please

phatbear - i metioned sit back and wait for the bear
I thought if you were caught with the old dodgey bag/watch etc the customs have you over the barrel if they wanted too because "youve brought in counterfit goods sir" "BUT BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS REAL OSSIFER""well then this has a book price of $1,200 as you have no receipt you you have exceeded your allowance and owe us big" "sir"
BTW i totally forgot HONESTLY bringing back my ladies Fendi bag some bits for me a cannon camera and some ipods for my family Uncle eBay and Auntie Red Lion. Bag was then $700 which adds to then £350 selling in london for £770 so although expensive its what she wanted only.
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
