    Land, eat, drink. lol
Have a wander. Check out times square.
    Nothing too strenuous

    good start

    Day 2
Day with big apple greeter. Already got one assigned :)
Possibly a broadway show in evening, depending on what's available from TKTS

you wont get a full day with a BAG normaly so you will have an afternoon/morning free to do as you please.

regarding the TKTS booth the one down in south street seaport is a lot less busy, alternatively have a look at https://www.broadwaybox.com and pre-book, personally when im in ny the last thing i want to do is q up for show tickets etc.

    Day 3
    Macys Thanksgiving day parade
Need to find something to do in aft/eve

I was at the parade last year and i was a tad underwhelmed by it all but i feel its essential to go if you are in town, wrap up warm though as it gets bitter and you will be standing around a lot.

regarding the evening a lot of the shops open in the evening for some pre black friday sales.

unless you pre-book a restaurant you may well struggle to sit down and eat, it was my 40th on thanks giving last year but eventually i found somewhere to eat but even then they could only serve me at the bar.

    Day 4
    Black Friday shopping

try and head out early, especially to smaller shops for example kid robot last year had 60% off for the first couple of hours on black friday, if you are going to macy's etc expect it to be bedlam however dont forget to get your out of towners discount card from customer service as this will give you a further 10% off of all purchases (macys and bloomies)

    Day 5
    Central Park. Ice skating.

I don't ice skate so no comment
    kizkiz wrote: »

    Day 6
Staten Island Ferry for look at old liberty
    Brooklyn bridge
    9/11 tour
    Police museum
    Chinatown

A nice busy day, whilst you are down at ground zero you could always pop along to wall street too. Chinatown is seriously under whelming
    kizkiz wrote: »

    Day 7
    Morning?
    TOTR
    Rockettes

TOTR i would do at sunset, make sure you are up there 45mins before hand then you get to see manhattan in day light and then watch it light up, done this several times and never get sick of the sight.

    Day 8
    Flying home in eve
    High line in morning
    Free for anything we missed

Highline is fab, also whilst there check out chelsea market for some fab food and have a look around the meat packing district as its a real up and coming area.

    Hope this helps a bit.

I always suggest making yourself a google map and drop pins in all the places you want to visit, this prevents a lot of time wasting going up and down the island

    Little tip:

Lastminute.com (in the UK) has theatre tickets for Broadway that look to match the discount prices available from the sites mentioned on this thread. saves taking valuable time out of your day to buy tickets in the States and you know what you are getting to see before you go.

Thinking of visiting the lowline this time, an underground park named in contrast to the highline.

Thanks for taking a look Phatbear
Greeter - He has already been in touch and told me that his greets usually last 8 hours!
We're not beholden to that, but have at least budgeted for it.
I figured thanksgiving would need booking. Still working on that
Shopping we are going to research first couple of days so we know where to go and times. The Mrs has already
    been talking about 5.30am!
Chinatown - I was only planning on eating there. Hopefully find a good place to go. Will look at adding Wall street now
TOTR sunset i was thinking too, but may have to tie in with a rockettes show time. Might look at moving the
    evening for one or tother
Google map already made and plans to skyrail/metro in from JFK. 7 day metro pass to be purchased. :D

    Hi All,

I am going to New York for the first time in February for my 30th birthday.

I've been reading about the tourist attraction passes and a little confused on whether this is the best way forward, and if so which one would be best for me?

We are going from February 4th for 5 nights and would really like to visit the following attractions which will have an entrance fee:

    Empire State
    Top of the Rock
    Intrepid Museum
9/11 museum (am I correct in assuming the 9/11 memorial site is free?)

I would really appreciate any advice if buying a pass is the best way to go?, which type of attraction pass to buy?, and peoples experience of them.

For the intrepid museum there's currently a groupon offer http://www.groupon.com/deals/intrepid-sea-air-space-museum-3

Depending on what else you want to do it will probably best to buy tickets separately.

Personally i wouldnt bother as if you have the passes you feel obliged to use the coupons.

also i wouldnt do esb and totr, i much prefer totr as you get to get to see the one thing you cant see from esb which is the esb itself, the only good thing about going up esb is the un-interupted view of the chrysler building, which is my personal fave building in manhattan

Yes the memorial site itself is free. It's literally just a (very impressive in my opinion) memorial though - for any information at all you need to pay to go into the museum.

I didn't pay as it seemed rather pricey but I'd definitely recommend at least visiting the memorial. As with all atrocities of this scale, you hear about them and feel bad but it doesn't truly sink in until you actually see it for yourself. The new World Trade Center is an impressive building too (and I believe it's recently opened?).

I agree. I've done them both (though 5 years apart) and although both have impressive views, you won't notice a huge difference. As you say, you also get to see the ESB from TotR.

The ESB also has a more interesting history, but I didn't find the small number of displays inside to be particularly thrilling.

You're right - but only on a Tuesday, wish I knew it at the time! I don't know how quickly they sell out though.
