I worry about you Greenie ! On the motoring forum you are drunk in the back of a campervan with your mate looking for the keys ! Wondering if plod are going to have you for drunk in charge ...... Now you are on here up a Welsh hillside watching sheep !!!!
We have done NYC in March and it has been ok, I think I had shorts on, but the locals were wrapped up. We have just been in January and to be honest it was not as cold as we were expecting. Friends that came with us had duvet/down jackets and they were too hot !
Why not do a little research on weather.com and see the average temps etc. But to be honest you never can tell.
The only times I would not go again is July /August when like you say it is hot and humid and you have the school hols which make it very hectic.

Don't forget that next June there maybe a F1 Grand Prix in NJ. So prices maybe high for hotels/flights !!! But saying that it may not go ahead. You will just have to see and wait ............ a bit like the weather !

My daughter stays at the salisbury hotel. It is excellent location and she has a room with two king size beds and a kitchenette. Clean and friendly staff right by central park, fifth avenue, ten min walk to times square and opposite russian tea rooms. She loves it there. Good price too.
Liked the look of this place so I have just booked.
Thanks everyone for your help.
I will be scouring this thread for other sight seeing tips before we go.

It depends, I'll need to do some research, you might be OK, but it could drop to slow data speeds when travelling between cities. However AT&T wouldn't be an issue, but they are more expensive at $50 for 1GB of data.
EDIT - OK, Both Boston and Washington DC have the refarmed network, so T-Mobile works on iPhones there, and you get decent speeds.
That's not an exact science, it may work, or you could be left with nothing. And also, we don't know the other data that the OP wants to have in the US.
I personally need to have access to e-mail when out and about, and I'm sure not going to stay in my hotel or specifically go somewhere just to reply to an e-mail.

Hi Mark, Thanks for checking that out. It doesn't really bother us if we don't get signal on the train etc, I wouldn't expect in the countryside, so thanks.
I have had a look on the t-mobile website, but cant find out how it works with an iPhone 5?? We can't seem to order nano sims, as they don't appear to exist on the sim only plans- or am I reading this completely wrong?!

I have had a quick google and there are a couple of shops near our hotel in Boston, so will probably end up going instore.
Basically should I get my iPhone 4 unlocked, or hubbys iPhone 5? We originally thought we would do the 5 as it will be in use for longer, but if we cant use the $3 data plan will get mine done.
Thanks for your help! :T:T0 -
Is your iPhone 4 going to be cheaper to unlock?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Same price. We are both with the same provider.
It's just when we go back hubby is more likely to still have his 5, than me to still have my 4.:T0 -
My wife and I are spending 8 nights in NYC in June, and have a budget of about £100 per night (£120 max) to spend on accommodation.
I appreciate that doesn't go very far in New York, but what's the best way to spend it? Something pathetically small in Manhattan, or something a bit more comfortable but further out?
(NB: happy to do self-catering/airbnb, but want somewhere private, i.e. not just a room in somebody's house)
Have you thought of trying priceline?0 -
The law is enforced. If a complaint is made of transients in an apartment they can and will evict people. Also, you knowingly breaking the law won't help if things go wrong.
Also, the lack of affordable accommodation for residents, by renting illegal apartments means you're making locals pay more and more for places as it is tougher and tougher to find one. This is the reason they have the law.
Get a hotel. There are hundreds to choose from including apartment style ones and hotels that fit all budgets.
Apartment rentals are illegal.
M
The problem I guess is that the hotel prices aren't competitive - you can get a lot more apartment for £100 than hotel room, as far as I can see.0
