I've been to NYC in April twice. Total mixed bag in terms of weather - T shirt and jeans for a couple of days, pretty chilly other days, torrential rain others.
Florida in April tends to be lovely, weather wise. Sunny, warm but not over hot. I definitely wouldn't describe it as humid! Certainly not compared to the summer months anyway.
I thought there were suggestions with off the beaten track ideas in the first few posts on this thread - did you have a look?0 -

Can anyone off advice as losing the will to live at the moment and what I hoped to be an easy holiday is looking more like a disaster ready to happen. Was originally planning to go to New York sometime between November and December this year. But friend has booked off the 1st to the 14th the most expensive two weeks and has also increased to the party size to 5! She's now looking at Package Holidays and has found one for £568 but the Hotel, Hotel Carter, doesn't have the best reviews. We were looking at 4-5 nights and I'd hoped to do it for around the £700 but I'm seriously thinking that may need to increase. Just worried that now that she's seen this price she'll not budge.
Extra info: wanting to fly from Manchester but this could move to a Midlands airport if needed. Any suggestions? Do we increase budget?2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0 -

Hotel carter is awful . (not stayed but know some pennypincher who has )I would normlly say so long as the room and beds are clean its in a good location being in NYC but its the Carter. It has that instant disappointment ,like talking to a relative and them saying my sons a professional footballer he plays for Everton .High then low. Try to find a better hotel Manhattan & surrounding area isnt that big . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Stay at the Hotel Carter if you have no standards. It consistently gets bad reviews. Not just one or two, it is just awful...
Budget - Yes, it needs to be increased if you want to stay in Manhattan. Have a look at Country Inn & Suites in Long Island City. This is a nice hotel, in a nice area, just a short hop into Manhattan. £700 each isn't much, especially when that time of year, your flight may be £550 ish!

For anyone in NYC around this time there's some great freebies and cheapies on offer as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of Grand Central Station, one of the great landmarks of the city.
