Mmmm, been reading lots of conflicting reports about the airport express and now have mixed thoughts. I have looked at the NJ transit but I cant understand how it works. We arrive at Terminal B (i think) so would we get straight onto the train or change somewhere? Then, how would we get to Holiday Inn from Penn St?

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Cab or 30 minute walk. If your new to NYC jump a cab & give driver full address . Getting your bearings can take time but knowing where landmark buildings/places are makes it easier to get back to your gaff etc .
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

You get an AirTrain from the airport to the train station. You get a train from the Train Station to New York Penn Station. It's that simple.

It really is that simple, I did it back in April. Why waste time in traffic.

Get the air train from Terminal B, then change as Mark said.
What's gone will never come back. But it exists when you think of it ...

We have our first night trip planned to NYC in April of next year and I'm starting to think about hotels.

Would now be a good time to look? Or is it best for looking in the New Year when there might be some sales?

We're going for 5 nights in total. What would people recommend if we were looking at a budget of £100 to £150 per night?

Hi! I would say keep checking prices. Look at packages and separate to compare. I booked a decent bargain last April with Hotel King and Grove Manhattan (Formerly the Hotel Lola and also formerly Hotel 3030)

Just 10 days before we fly, any final tips from you lovely people?

ENJOY YOURSELVES !!!! :xmassign: I really hope you all enjoy your time in the city! Its amazing and I am sure you will love it! Safe trip!

Absolutely my strategy.....we've already got the flights with a week stopover in Iceland for £420 each.

Then as a banker I've booked the Verve in Long Island City with a 20% off code on RatesToGo which comes in at around £70 a night. That's cancellable with full refund if something better comes along!

Shame there are 4 months to go......

  • Anyone have an ideas on how to present a holiday to new york for the girlfriends 18th birthday? Since we stop off in London first I was thinking about giving producing some form of ticket for a flight to London because she loves London, and then suprising her with the fact that we wont be there long because we're going to NewYork.

How to present this I dont know because I cant print off boarding passes yet which would of been a good idea.. :\

When is a sale not a sale?
When it is BA just matching their nearest competitor of Delta, and they're still 3p more expensive. Delta have been that price for the past few months as I'm looking at very similar dates.

    Delta £408.46

Buy her an early birthday present of a NYC Guide Book... Put in the cover the booking confirmation.
