Phatbear - this makes you sound like very competent thief!! :rotfl: Perhaps we should reassure those that may not know that you work in customs.

Well it kinda matters, the tsa locks have a number on them which the US customs officers will have a master key for soif they want to go in your bag they can and then resecure your bag for you.

I you dont have a TSA lock then they will cut your locks off and then your bags wont be secured and as soon as your bags are unsecured you may find your baggage is no longer covered by your insurance because they are no longer secured. Aso remember if your bags are then unlocked your average thief is an opportunist and if they see an unlocked bag they are far more likely to have a rifle through your bag.

As a rule I can get in any bag and resecure in seconds but a locked bag will often put a casual thief off.

So I'm guessing they have to be key operated and not the dial ones?

Nope even the dial ones tend to have a small master key hole on the bottom, or in rare occasions the lock will have a master combination

Its a standing joke that we are capable of being the best drug/fag/gun smugglers in the world as well as being competent lock pickers etc

however one issue I have with NY is their loo's thats a different subject
They are a bit strange, aren't they?

I never had to ask to use a loo, but then I also never had to go into a hotel to use one. Always ready for a coffee / ice cream / cold drink / collapse ...

  • We are off to New York on Thursday. My son wishes to buy a Nintendo DSi. Would one purchased in the US be compatible in the UK (i realise we would need an adapter to charge it etc, I was thinking more along the lines of it being region-locked for games purchased in the UK)
Where would be the best place to get one?

I have found out that HMV at LHR T5 are selling them for £102. So can we get them cheaper in New York, or should we buy at HMV?

    Thanks

DS, DSi and DS XL are not region specific therefore the machines will play games from anywhere and vice versa.

Price wise they are probably as cheap over here as they are over there, I bought Mrs Phatbear one in NY on our 1st visit and wouldnt have bothered if she hadnt wanted a specific colour which was only available in the US and Japan. prices then, at $1.75 to the £ were the same as over here.

You can pop along and have a look at nintendo world which is in rockerfeller plaza to see the evolution of all things nintendo.

The other point with buying them in NY is they may not come with international warranties and therefore, in the unlikely event, that it went kapuut its money wasted

As a comparison J&R do them for $170 + tax so about $185 which is approx £130'ish

    We're off on Thursday too!

We looked for a DS in Florida a few years back and found the prices to be exactly the same as here - the games were the same price too. In the end, we bought here, a good deal found on one of the forums.
