We got on just around the corner from Grand Central but it did stop at the Port Authority and others boarded there.
Someone then boarded the bus to collect the fares and from there it was straight to EWR.
    I think there's a bus about every 20 mins.

There are different, but identical looking, buses that go to each of the airports - just check with the driver that it's the right bus before he loads your luggage under the bus!

This sounds good.....thanks for that :j
Hauling 4 large suitcases across the street may be a bit like dicing with death.....correct me if I'm wrong ????
  • Thanks for the previous replies - been looking at hotels and the hotels outside Manhattan are considerably cheaper - how silly would it be to stay in Long Island, Jersey City or Brooklyn and get the train in every day?

All the crossings we used were the sort where is an illuminated sign on the other side of the crossing - the red hand tells you to stop and the white walking man tells you when to walk :)

not that simple on the crossing front as drivers can still turn right even when their light is red, assuming the way is clear however i've lost count of the amount of times i've come thigh to bumper in NY thanks to people swinging round, however i've found an idignant stare and a sharp "im walking here" in my best NY accent often puts them in their place

Hauling 4 large vacuum cleaner across the street will be Dyson with death. Are you on your own with 4 or are there 4 of you and want to sound dramatic. ? Anyway get in the middle of a crowd and go hell for leather . Dont be suprised if there isnt a drop kerb on the other side and your left lifting a case about 18 inches up. Youll be ok .. Enjoy the NYC life

    Brooklyn - Sensible
Jersey City - Meh! It's OK, but it is not New York City is it.
Long Island - Stupid. Long Island is 23 miles long. It isn't a place for tourists to stay for a holiday to New York City.

Now, Long Island City, which is one stop away from Manhattan, and an area of Queens (which is in New York City), is perfectly acceptable and often recommended.
