I'm sure the statue itself is closed for refurbishment until later this year. Tickets can be bought at this website - you need to book Crown Access tickets in addition to the ferry tickets (it was only another $3pp when we went). Please note that other tour operators do provide a tour to Ellis Island, but tickets to go up the statue to the crown, when reopened, can only be bought through the above link.
When we visited last August, we booked our tickets in April, and by June there were very few dates left for our time in NY as they limit the number of people who can go up the statue each day.
Yep. Deffo closed until the autumn.0 -

Hi,
Looking to book flights and hotel from London to NYC end of September 2012 (4 night stay). There will be two of us (me & daughter). I want a direct flight and would prefer a hotel that has a separate bedroom, sofa bed in a lounge and some form of kitchen.
I was looking at apartments but found that there is a recent NYC Bill that prohibits their rental for a period of less than 30 days. A lot of rental apartements are available but I am a little wary of booking one.
Can anyone recommend a suitable Hotel and should I book now or wait a few months in case prices fall ?
TIA

Avoid rentals, they've been illegal for years. They've just adjusted the laws to close loopholes rather than create new laws.
Might be worth looking at the Affina hotels in NYC, they do Studio rooms in their hotels. They tend to get good reviews.0 -

Try the Eastgate Tower, that is normally the cheapest around. End of September is very pricey though, so expect rates over $300 for what you're asking for.
You can get a room with 2 beds and kitchen for less. Also, why the kitchen? It isn't cheaper to buy food and cook for yourself, because you can eat out very cheaply in NYC.

Hi,
Hoping someone can help me. I'm considering taking the wife & 2 kids to NY for the period 26/7 - 14/8 this year. Im stuck with the schools hols on account of the wife being a teacher & the kids being at school.
I'm only looking for flights as Ill be staying with family near Yonkers & in a mountain lodge upstate. In terms of the flights - Manchester would be preferred option & am looking for best websites; cheapest carrier; suggestion on likely price ; best time to book flights etc etc.
Thanks

Now I understand the kitchen thing. It isn't important when we travel as a couple, but with kids it is really useful.
Breakfast...sorted easily, snacks etc you can have what you want in a fridge etc. It just makes it more useful.0
