This gave me an attack of the giggles
No teabags are fine
Problem foods are fresh fruit, veg and meat
I take tea, jams, chocolate and Marmite as gifts without any problems. I always pack them rather than put them in hand luggage though-Jams are a little dodgy as they are technically fruit and also "liquids" so MUST be packedI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

Personally I would still not take the risk, renting apartments/b&b's in new york is a very grey area apparently it is actually illegal.
If I were you I would be looking at hotels you can get some very good deals if you search around give priceline a try0 -

Try hotels outside of Manhattan, which are really good value. We like La Quinta in Queens, which is only 15 mins or so into Times sq etc on the tube.
We've decided to go back for the 3rd time next year(around thanksgiving),and have done the usual touristy stuff, and wanted to know if anyone knew of any little gems/places we could visit?:happyloveBaby girl born 27/2/12:happylove

I'm slighlty confused after reading about personal allowances. If I want to buy myself some clothes, jewellery and a pair of boots (rather than buying them here, as they're just to wear in NYC), do I need to be careful how much I'm spending or I might have to pay extra tax at the airport, or would I only have to pay taxes if I was buying them for resale? Sorry if I'm being dumb!0

So we are off to NY tomorrow! I gave my husband money in a bag for Christmas and he has booked for us to go to New York. Manchester to Newark tomorrow.
His itinary is watertight and I hope I am strong enough to keep up with it. We managed to get places at Momofuko Ko....even Obama couldn't get in! So i am looking forward to that part. Weather seems "warmish but wettish" which I am used to in Manchester.
Here goes....0 -
Just to check, are you bringing them back into the UK? I presume you are, and it doesn't matter whether you're bringing them back as gifts, as personal purchases, or for resale, you'll have to watch what you're spending.
When you say to watch what I'm spending. Is there a set number of items/amount I can spend, before having to pay tax?0
