I've taken to replying 'taken by xxx on xxx date. After being let down by xxxx, yyyyy and zzzz. In addition, please remember to say please - it doesn't even cost you ink!'.
I always get replies saying 'good on you' and 'totally agree so and so never collects'.
I love this board as I can see that at least some freecyclers outthere are real humans:)If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0

You may laugh - but on our local freecycle, there have been quite a few cars offered....!!!
And we are encouraged to report no shows to our moderators and after 2 no shows, they are banned. Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0

How do I find a member's donating history please?
I have several items I'm offering and hadn't thought of checking to see if the person who responds has given items.
 Thankssomewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

It's Gloucester - so hardly a well off area...!! Although I have often wondered why people don't sell their cars instead of just giving them away. I guess it's too much hassle for some and they just want to get rid of them.
They're never top of the range or anything - but I guess if you needed a car, then you wouldn't be too fussy about it.Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! I always find the people who insist on Collection for eBay items to save the £1.86 postage fall into the odd and difficult category.
One lady was most insistent that her hubby could collect as he drove all over the country for his job despite my trying to dissuade her by gently pointing out that I had a life and couldn't promise to be at home at the exact moment he was passing through - especially with no notice. About three weeks later he rang from a motorway service station about 12 miles away asking if I could pop over there with it since he was going to be there for the next 30 minutes or so and I had to explain that I was working right now, and I don't drive. About a week later he rang with the same request and got the same answer to which he replied "Why the heck do you not just put it in the post?"
Quite. Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0

I've only just started offering things on Freecycle.
On both occasions I have left the items at the front of my house and they have indeed been collected.
But neither member has bothered to email me to say they have collected them or thank me
 Am I expecting too much??
If I was getting something I needed for free that's the least I would do!Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

I've seen both offered and wanted posts for firewood in my local Freeshare (formerly Freecycle) group. I don't think it sounds greedy at all if you're willing to chop and uplift: on the contrary, you could be doing someone a favour. If you expected the donor to deliver to you, that would be greedy/ crazy!kiwi_fruit wrote: »Hi, I wonder if somebody can advice. We're thinking to signing to Freecycle and obviously offering a few things, but also thought of putting "wanted" ad for firewood(can chop ourselves if needed), before doing that I though I'd ask for your opinion-does this sound "greedy" or crazy or is this an ok thing to ask for? (Maybe there are people that don't need wood but chopped down a tree and want it removed etc) Do you see offers/wanteds for firewood on your local Freecycle? Thanks
I'm lucky: everyone I've dealt with in my local group has been friendly and polite, and there are always plenty of "offered" posts. We do occasionally get optimistic "wants" like people requesting a good modern laptop or a 3 piece suite in a specific colour, but most people are realistic with their asks and generous with their offers.0

Talk about shopping lists on freecycle, on ours today theres someone asking for a long list of specific things!..
Settees, either red or black (leather or fabric), mahagony bedroom furniture, chest of draws, bedside tables, mahogony tv stand, (must be a few feet high), hifi stand in light wood or metal/glass, dvd storage unit, (with a door so dvds are hidden as i dont like clutter), computer desk, (light wood or metal/glass) cordless phone and a sky plus or freesat plus box.0

I had a man tell me he was going to throw himself off a bridge because the light switch he bought from me hadn't arrived.
Apparently his home was washed away in a flood and he was re-building it himself from scratch..luckily wherever he was staying had internet connection and a laptop.
He didn't actually BOTHER contacting me asking where the light switch was or asking for a refund, just a nice message about his suicidal intentions.
I still have the postage receipt for it, two years later, incase he carried out his threats and the police came knocking - "Look officer, I posted it, honest."DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0
