Crazies on auction sites/freecycle...

I find that the 'wanted' items are getting more and more outrageous, and frequent.
Keep seeing wanted ads for XBox360s and DSLites and similar.
I gave up with our Freecycle a while ago as its normally just full of people trying to get there houses totally furnished. It was hard to find the offered ads in between all the wanteds. Whenever I offered there were just too many weirdos
I remember one wanted add that they wanted a double bed, wardrobes, a sofa, a dinning table, a single bed a fridge, a freezer, a cooker, a TV and a PC which must be windows Vista!0

The weirdest things I've seen offered on Freecycle:
 a single sock
a bag of used toothbrushes (and the bloke was offering to deliver them on his bike)
 some well worn nursing bras

Lovely. I once went to get some 'wax for making candles' thinking it would be pellets of wax that are suitable for candle making and it was stubs of old candles with bits of dirt and dead flies in it!0

On ours today we have requests for
 two very specific books
 a rowing machine
 used perfume bottles
furniture for an entire house - every room!
 a trailer for a car
and that's just from a quick scan of the first two pages! However, there is usually a fair balance between WANTED and OFFERED and whenever I have offered anything the collectors have all been very polite and grateful, though I have never yet managed to successfully claim anything. £2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250 £2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

I was a member of Freecycle for 3 years and a moderator for around 18 months so certainly did meet my fair share of nutters. I'm a stay at home mum of 4 and we have a really small house so i've offered loads over the years. I actually left the group in October after the final straw of being messed around when trying to give away a complete working XP computer system that quite frankly, could have been sold i just wanted it gone to create more space upstairs.
There are plenty members on my local group that think it is acceptable to keep emailing about items they have not even been offered, There was one lady very well known for being a 'hoover upper' that had multiple i.ds on several local groups, that often sent emails as soon as they hit her inbox applying for anything household, which she would then fail to collect.
I've offered over 300 items! the amount of rude emails, no shows, sob stories and such is unreal!
One lady in particular, applied for a fridge and kettle i no longer wanted, her ex collected them from me and then i found myself with daily emals from her telling me how crap her life was, and about all these major events in her life, how many husbands she'd had, how many people had commited suicide and about miscarriages etc, I just ignored the emails at first, wondering why a stranger felt the need to tell me all of this stuff, until i offered a pram on the group with no takers....a week later someone posted a wanted for a pram so i offered them mine.....when the girl collected it, she asked why i'd ignored her relatives emails (i'm quite convinced that this was a set up to get me speaking, neither of these 2 women actually need a pram!!!) I felt really sorry for her and assumed she didn't have many friends so put up with her for quite some time, then i found out why she didn't have many friends and can't really say any more than that,
A bloke on the group offered a sofa, and i applied for my mum, sorted all the transport etc, and then i frequently gave this guy items, usually just handed them over at the front door then i started getting emails and even phone calls from him, asking for my husband to go to their place and help them rearrange/carry things downstairs etc.... This chap and his other half even popped round one day expecting a brew, i don't know them and they are old enough to be my parents! When they were here they were asking me for stuff to! The same chap did a similar thing to a friend of mine,,,,and they asked her would she like to join them in bed!! (my friend was 17 at the time so probably young enough to be their granddaughter!)
These are the people we give our addresses and telephone numbers to over the internet!!! I've plenty more horror stories trust me! But on the other hand i have met some really lovely genuine people aswell.
I now give my stuff to charity or sell them on ebay. I've given too many nut jobs my address and enough is enough!!If google doesn't know it, how should i?0

So tempting to create a fake email address and direct them all to the same empty warehouse at the same time!ithinkyourcrazy wrote: »Just looked at my local one.
