Personally I wouldnt risk it - I would need a lot of alcohol to steady my nerves, risking being turned away for being an alcoholic or ticking the wrong box (eg the one asking if you have ever been a member of a communist party) on the immigration form.
I am not sure how complete and joined up computer systems are in this country (let alone how accurate such a system would be), and how much is communicated to US - however be aware that you risk a life time ban and being turned away at the border (ie being put on the next available plane at your own cost).0 -
I aint no alcoholic! Surely it would of been publicised allot more, the fact that that if you have ever been arrested wrongly or not, that you aren't going to get in unless you have a different type of visa?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. donna wrote:I recently got points on my driving licence and a fine for speeding. I wasn't arrested for this as i was caught on a camera and had the paperwork come through the post automatically.
Also 15 years ago i was wrongly accused and arrested for smashing a window and was given a caution which i was told would stay on record for x no of years(5 i think).
Will i need to apply for a visa if i go?
Minor traffic offences are usually ok (but not if you were actually arrested) - but the previous arrest and caution would mean you would be ineligible for the visa waiver scheme. See the US Embassy website for exact info

1. I wouldn't risk it for anything
2. You would be refused, sent back at your own expense on the next plane and you would be permenantly excluded.
3.Not an option.

1. Nowhere near as much hassle as being refused entry, turfed out and being forever refused !
2. U.S Immigration are as strict as hell after 9/11. A better question would be what are my chances of getting caught ?
Merc..... I'm not being a clever sod over this. By the sound of things there may have been a problem for you in the past. Contact the Embassy, if needs be make an appointment for an interview and if you don't need one they'll definitely tell you. So at least then you'll know one way or the other.
IMHO, it's not worth ruining your holiday and the holiday of everyone that is with you.

Hyatt Regency on the Hudson
It is possible to get this for $55 + taxes :j
Any more info on this? Any hints or tips as to how to get this place for $55?
I'm going to NY for 5 nights (at the end of October) and the Hyatt looks great, especially at that price!
I had a look at Pricerunner.com and it seems you can't book on the US site unless you are american/canadian, so I had a go on the UK site - 3* in Jersey City from 26/10/06 to 31/10/06 and I went for £35 a night (roughly $70) but it was rejected
Any suggestions as to what i'm doing wrong?
Thanks0 -
There was no problem, i was arrested and then let go!
It'll mean going all the way to London to see the embassy which is a hassle.
Don'y think i'm not grateful for the advice it just seems really daft!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Can anyone tell me whether there is a cheaper way of booking a car to manhattan from JFK. I believe I read that the taxi fare is $50+tip, and we are not keen on shuttles/buses/subways, so is there any way to book in advance cheaper?
